Our local FULL SIZE race track run JET cars all the time. I see no reason why I can not build a 1:4 scale jet car of my own.
Anyone know where I can buy a engine?

probably a no no here, but check out www.flightlines.com and ask there.
Gets a lot more traffic than this board. I only post this because no one here seems to know anything.

Hi HDDCHROME,
I expected someone else to answer already about purchasing a jet engine. The model airplane mags have ads from a variety of companies that sell the beauties. Trouble is, you have to have a special license to operate a model turbine at the present time. At this point I have never heard of anyone working up a package for a car. If you get in touch with one of the manufacturers, they will have the scoop on what you have to do to purchase their product.
Regards, Dave

If I can afford what it takes, I will design one and share with everyone.

Your welcome hdcchrome (what does your handle stand for anyway??? ).
I think you'd be better off with a Heli though. :)
When a Heli takes off, you'll have control of it. When the rocket car breaks 150mph and take off, you may never see it again. :D

Try GPA Hobbies in Crofton, MD. Go to their web site or call and ask for either Ron or Eric.

Its probably been done, Ive seen them in boats already.
But, you could do it, and I dont think you would need the AMA Turbine waiver, as it doesnt fly, at least you hope it wont!:D
BUT, keep in mind the turbines range from around $1600 to the sky!

JohnVH,
Where did you get yours? Does anyone sell them used? What all does it take to get one running? Compressed air tank, fuel, etc.?

I got my Jetcat P80 from Top Gun Aircraft in a combo with the Tocpat.
Almost finished with the jet, have run the engine about 5 times now.
There is a bunch of turbine MFG's out there. Just have to look, check on RCU
