Hello all,

For those of you who have covered balsa with the Renolds Crystal Wrap and used a glue stik, is there a particular brand and type of glue stik that you reccomend?

Hello Dale,
There may be other fine brands, but I have good success with the UHU brand found in office supply stores. It is purple while we, and dries clear.

UHU or Avery brand with the purple 'dissapearing' color both work well.

I have used the Elmer's glue stick a couple times, and it worked fine, but I now prefer the water based contact cement.

You paint it on, let it dry over night, then tack the Renolds Wrap down with an iron, covered with a Tshirt piece, or baby sock. It's pretty easy to work with this way by comparison. Once you iron the whole piece down, shrink it up with a hair drier.

I also prefer the water based contact cement. I have had good luck with DAP Weldwood. If you let it dry to the touch before applying the Reynolds Wrap, you can pull up and reposition the Reynolds Wrap if need be without getting any cement residue on it. A word of caution - if you are covering both sides of a thin surface (e.g. tail surfaces) you might try to shrink it with the iron rather than a blower. It is very easy to blow the two sides together and when that happens they stick together and it is a real pain to separate them.
