What size music wire would be appropriate for a slowflyer type plane's control wires? Sorry, new at this and no LHS. All mail order, so I need to get it straight before ordering and shipping.

Is .047" too big?

Thanks,

Mike.

Hi Mike,
A very useful approach is to use .032" wire, and run it through a thin plastic tube for support. Many of us use the tube from the Sullivan throttle cable set, which fits the .032' wire very nicely.

Thanks for the suggestion AirWarrior, I've already planned to use the wire with small tube, but was unsure of what size wire would be required to drive the control surfaces. I figure this is the best way for now for a newbie like me. Linkage sounds more sturdy though.

And the wire is soo cheap! Not sure what the linkage is like, but 30 cents or so Canadian for 36"? Hurray for something cheap in this hobby! :)

It's something I what on hand anyway, since I'll be flying my Wingo off water and want a spare in case of rust on the original Wingo control lines.

Thanks again Dave. You must be getting tired of hearing that... ;)

Mike.
