Can anyone tell me the differences and applications of the various tire compounds available? Each mfr seems to have there own way of rating compounds. Confusing if you ask me.

Also, can anyone recommend the ProLine H13 Slicks. Are these what ProLine claims to be - "super-soft and long wear". How are they on med. traction asphalt? Are they affected by temps? Other tires seem to be temp rated but the H13 isn't. Does that mean it is an "all-purpose" compound?

Lastly, how does the firmness of the tire insert affect handling?

Thanks in advance.

H13's are good tires, yes, they are affected by the temp. The firmness of the insert affects handling by how much grip it helps the tire get. Around here, we usually run hards up front and softs in back. If you are on medium trac asphalt, do yourself a favor and get some GS Medial Pro insertless tires. Great traction, great wear.

Yeah, those Medial Pro's look nice, but I haven't been able to find them around here. You know of an online site that sells them?

So the insert firmness has pretty much the same effect as the spring firmness? Softer insert gives better traction but slower response and harder inserts give better response but less traction?

As far as the H13's, what is the optimm temp range?
