im saving up for my first nitro powered car and i want it to be a monster truck. i cant decide between the monster pirate or the t-maxx. im gonna race sometimes but mostly want to get for bashing and screwing 'round with. which is more durable. im leaning towards the pirate cuz it has .21 power and HUGE tires. but the maxx is cheaper and a better handler. and does having a fm radio really make that much difference in a nitro car.

Since when does the T-maxx come with an FM radio? It's a three channel am 27mhz.
But to answer your question, it depends on what you are going to do with it. Major jumps and hardcore bashing I would have to say either. I have both and the MP jumps just as well as the T on the kind of stuff I do.
The hyper is a better engine and yes more powerful, but all around better. Shoot there are alot of maxxes out there with the .21 conversion and the hyper in them.
Good luck and let us know what you do decide.
If hopups are a factor I would say the Tmaxx has more hopups avail.:D

i never said the tmaxx came with an fm radio. i just asked if having an fm radio in a nitro car really made the difference.

I'd say go with the Pirate, if u stick some MT3 Rims and Dominator 'Swoosh' tyres onto the MP it'l handle ALOT better than the T-Maxx can ever dream to, those MP meats may look sweet but they hurt the truck in terms of speed, handling capability and jumping ability

yeah i was only gonna use the standard rims and tires for bashing and until i get some dominator rims. that is if i get the MP.

Sorry, I mis read. If you are considering the MP yes the MT3 rims and smaller rubber make a world of difference. Something I didn't consider before was reverse. If reverse is not a factor (Ie something you don't want/need) then the MP is the way I would go. I bought a tmaxx first and after having probs with the reverse I took it out. Then I found out about the MP. If I had bought a MP first I probally would not ave gotten a maxx;)

i dont like reverse either in any of my cars. even my rustler i use for jumping and going camping. i bought a dynamite powerpulse esc with reverse without knowing but its ok. its kinda nice because it still has brakes and then goes into reverse with a 1 second delay.
