I have read the different treads on this, Ace/TT have made a big mistake, the message that they sent all customers is that hey only care to SELL and not service.

When the EK4 came out, I almost bought one, but thanks to the wonderfull support they offer I DID NOT and WILL NOT until they change!

Sorry for Richard, I can identify since something similar happened to me, but bottom line is that something much better is in sore for him.

vz, I guess they don't consider it a big mistake! It does make you wonder, tho, why would a company like Thunder Tiger, sit back and idly watch it's customers rant & rave about a situation with the EK4? Do they think we'll just get sick of no progress and just go away?
This has been going on for a couple of months and all we have ever heard is, "we're working on it." How long does it take to provide some information, HONEST information? There must be 20 questions concerning the EK4, yet, there are no answers.
After 25 years of having an auto body/auto repair shop, had I treated my customers like this, I wouldn't have made past the first year!!! All of us EK4 owners are baffled over this company!!

I agree, something better is in store for Richard. He didn't deserve what he got!!

add another to the boycotter's list...i always heard their support was crap anyway...i think you should start getting names and addresses from people on the various forums (including that one before the whole thing disappears mysteriously) willing to sign on the dotted line for their piece of a nice class action suit...you prolly will each only get $4 out of the deal, but it will hurt ttr where it counts, buying international plane tickets to go to court and get raped..ahaha

and post those email addys, don't make people look for em

p.s. and get as many of those people as you can to chew up some diff gears and send em to you, then put em all in a big pile and snap a picture...EXHIBIT A

Well, there are lot of people who don't want to see the EK fall by the wayside, due to corporate BS. But, to stand by idly while this company gears up to produce the EK UNLIMITED, is not only a slap in the face to the present owners of the EK, but, irresponsible!

Some of the aftermarket companies are also concerned, after all, they don't want to gear up making mods & parts for the EK only to have it disappear. I can see their point....to a point. These aftermarket companies should also be the ones that are putting pressure on Thunder Tiger for answers.

I suspect ACE/Thunder Tiger may be producing the EK UNLIMITED with THE DRIVETRAIN FIX, which does nothing for the present owners and only serves to line ACE/Thunder Tiger's pockets at the expense of their customers slash supporters.

I'm sure there are some people who will buy the UNLIMITED, due to it having a 90 engine. These are also the same people with a social problem of not being noticed and the UNLIMITED with the 90 engine just might get them noticed, if only for a little while. Hell of a price to pay for a few transparent moments of importance!

After all, why else would you buy the UNLIMITED, especially knowing the history of that company and their LACK OF SUPPORT on previous products??

In my opinion, I think ACE/Thunder Tiger is gambling on the UNLIMITED. Perhaps their reasoning stems from the present owners of the EK-70 and the desire to have the BIGGEST engine in a 1/8 truck. The rationality of consumers seems to have fallen, too, by the wayside.

The initial expense for the EK-70 is $400-$500, plus, some of the aftermarket mods, and these present owners, myself included, have a neat little sum tied up in their EK. I'm sure ACE/Thunder Tiger realize this and feel that we aren't going to just scrap the EK, so, LET'S STRIKE WHILE THE IRON IS HOT!!

Just how stupid AND gullible are the American people!?!?!? WE WILL ALL FIND OUT SOON ENOUGH!!

RC Jack,

Have you thought of the following:

ACE/TTR are probably putting their effort on releasing the Unlimited as trouble free as possible, therefor all of their ressources are "tyied up" in research and development of what I hope would be a trouble free truck. Maybe they figure that the solution for the drivetrain will come with the Unlimited, meanwhile, just IGNORE the existing customers and hope that coming out with the most powerfull monster truck and an aggressive ad campain will quiet down all of the current events; firing Steve and not giving support to customers.

If you think about it, I think that ACE/TTR are following this or a similar strategy, heck, they do not have any competition, and definetely will not have any when they release the Unlimited. I mean, troubles and all, the EK4 is still the most powerfull monster truck in the market.

What we need is more manufacterers to come-up with similar powered trucks. Look at Tamiya, they released their Terra Crusher and the only problems so far are linkage issues and not breaking in the engine AND transmission correctly, but bottom line, the T-Maxx has finnally a competitor! A competitor that has terrific customer support and a truck with minor problems...

I am currently looking for a monster truck, actually just a rolling chassis without an engine, I believe that the EK4 is one of the best 1/8 scale chassis out, so it would be really interesting to see what would happen if someone would swap the heli engine for a .21 collari, for example.

Anyway, all of the above comes from an "almost" EK4 owner, but it still amazes me how some manufacterers believe that ONLY SALES matter.

Guys, there are two sides to every story, and I've been doing this long enough to know that they can be DRASTICALLY different, especially in situations where someone is terminated. I'm not choosing sides here, but just suggesting you temper you position with the knowledge that the situation may not be exactly as it's been portrayed.
I don't have any "inside" information concerning the development of either version of the truck, but one would assume they could kill two birds with one stone. If they build the Unlimited truck that can handle a .90 engine, I would imagine that any upgrades would certainly cover what anyone views as a shortcoming of the .70 truck.

However, I do believe that ACE/TTR should at least post a news flash as to where they are with either the development of the Unlimited and with it the solution to the drivetrain issues, or that they are actually working on a solution for the actual EK4.

I believe that if they did this, a lot of people would calm down, instead it is now harder to get through to customer service. Not exactly encouraging or reassuring for the upset/agravated customer/client.

My 2 cents...

I agree completely, however I do know that they're in the middle of a transition from MO to SoCal and setting up a whole new facility, which tends to temporarily screw things up as far as tending to regular business.

Steve, they already did move, and you're right, it would screw things up a bit, but, it shouldn't close the doors of communication!!

To most of us, it would make just good business sense to provide a fix, or at the very least, keep us posted as to the progress. To repeatedly say week after week after week, "We're working on it", gets old after a while and loses it's meaning...if there is one! Later on, maybe bring out the UNLIMITED.

And if they are looking to kill 2 birds with one stone by bringing out the UNLIMITED and a fix for the EK70, then, in my opinion, that is a very sad way of doing business!!! OUT FOR THE MONEY AND NOTHING ELSE!!! Companies that do business in this "fashion" give RC, not only a bad name, but, a black eye!
