I need some pre-purchase advice! I'm set on getting the TM (for my wife as a trainer of course!)

I need to know if I can easily access the radio gear on the TM once the plane is built. I'll be needing the gear sometime this summer to test out in a scratch plane, but I want something to teach my wife with, and the TM seems so nice.

I'm looking at getting a couple 7 cell 300 mah NiMH packs to supplement the 270 mah NiCad pack in the flight pack I'm getting. I know I have to do some carving. It's fairly easy to do right?

What type of connector is on the GWS pack and GWS ESC from the pico pack? Are they good, or should I be thinking of replacing with a dean polarized connector? Will either handle a 280 motor?

I think those are my main questions. I'll post more if I think of them. What to order Monday, so i need to get the rest of my info together by the end of the weekend.

Canadians - Anyone suggest a good battery pack place where I can get 2 Sanyo 8 cell NiHM 1650 packs for my Wingo and 2 Sanyo 7 cell 300 mah packs for the TM - either Canada or US at a good price with decent shipping costs?

Thanks guys! Can't wait to teach my wife the joys of flying a TM! :D

All your qustions, won't post a problem. The TM is an easy airplane. I have posted a bunch of info. right down to the charger, and battery issue's as well. Your wife (Lucky for her, or you, cause they only fly once and that's enough for them:p )

Both you and you wife, are going to love that Little, wild, crazy, full of fun airplane. You can even walk with it while in hovering mode, and there are times, in not so strong wind, the TM will hover in place:cool: The loops are great, flying height, it can reach up there alright:cool:

Construction wise. 3 hours of building and your off to the field, just make sure that you have all the equipment ready. Start in the evening gluing and with a fresh charged batteries, your off to the field.

Have fun:D

Hi Iglooman,

Accessing the radio gear requires removing the wings. This involves removing rubberbands and 4 screws.

I am using Lithium Ion packs in mine. Since mine fit without carving the fuselage I have not done so, but it is not hard to access this area for carving. There are many threads that show pictures of this.

The GWS package uses a 2 pin connector that I cannot think of what they are called at this moment. ( JST connectors I believe),I have used these connectors on S280 motors with no problems. The GWS speed controller however cannot be used with the 280's as it is only a 2 amp controller.

My wife has a hard time controlling anything on a Playstation game, but last weekend we talked her into taking control of my TM. She made 8 circles around the field with no frightening moments. It is a fine plane to teach with. I hope your wife has fun with it.
