I am just starting out with radio-control airplanes and Wingo sounds perfect for me. All the reviews I've read of it are positive. Can someone tell me about the other side of the story (failures, parts breaking, etc.)?

Also, the bundle deal (everything you need with it) from Hobby Lobby is very expensive. For half the price, I could get the Super Aviator from Draganfly, (http://www.rctoys.com/superaviator.php )which flies 4 times faster, looks like a real plane, and includes everything in the same package.

What do you think?

I got back into R/C after 25 yrs, saw an electric fly, liked the idea, saw the Soarstar fly, said thats for me. I'm just a "Sunday" flyer no wild type flying, just laid back. I LOVE it, now there are total of 4 in our little town, we fly in ball field, school parking lot, even have flown in my moms back yard. Soarstar very much like Wingo. I get anywhere from 10-16 mins on the supplied battery pack. Good luck Don

It's a tough call deciding on price, but one thing you don't want right now is a plane that flys four times faster. Even a slow plane will be full of surprises, especially if you don't have an experienced flyer to help you out.

At least you are asking in a place where you can get good advice. I haven't flown a wingo, but I have been flying since the days of reeds and for a beginner slow is GOOD.

The other thing to consider is equipment. The radio you get with the Super Aviator is probably an adequate 72mhz radio. But, you don't know what you are getting. Who knows about expandability, and more advanced features. It's a question of price. Since whatever your first plane is will get crashed a lot, you will end up removing the radio system and putting it in another plane. It's hard to know how portable the equipment in the Aviator is. On the other hand, maybe it's Futaba without the name and there is no problem.

Hey Ben, heres my advice. If you are a beginner then i would NOT get the super aviator. It says that thing goes 40-50 mph! my first plane went about 20-30mph and that was a rush . I never got a really good flight out of it (45 seconds) before i destroyed it.I watched the video on the super aviator and that thing really zooms. I would go with something slower that you can fly in a smaller area too. The cheapest thing i know of right now is the GWS Pico J3-S its a yellow semi-cub plane. you can buy everything you need for it for about $160 or less. and it flys slow too.

The plane itself comes with the motor, gearbox, propeller and everything you need to build it. It sells for about $40 but i bought it at my local hobby shop for $30.

You can buy the flight package from www.balsapr.com. It comes with the trasmitter, reciever, speed comtrol, 2 micro servos, and battery pack ( 150mah-270mah ) for $120.

Thats EVERYTHING you need to fly besides the charger for the planes batteries and the batteries for the transmitter.
