I am just starting out with radio-control airplanes and Wingo sounds perfect for me. All the reviews I've read of it are positive. Can someone tell me about the other side of the story (failures, parts breaking, etc.)?
Also, the package deal (everything you need with it) from Hobby Lobby is very expensive. For half the price, I could get the Super Aviator from Draganfly, (http://www.rctoys.com/superaviator.php )which flies 4 times faster, looks like a real plane, and includes everything in the same box.
What do you think?
Ben
(failures, parts breaking, etc.)? Everyone in Eflight, each person has it's own ways of Crashing, brake parts, and flying. It depends on you, and how you fly, and maintain you hardware's and power plants.
For the second airplane. I have read threads, and reviews about that particular airplane. Negative so far:(
A good trainer, such as the wingo, that E-flyer's have grown to love and appreciate, it's because of it's tolerance in it's owners flying skill.
E-flight or glow, for a newbie. Choose a good wing loading area. A good trainer can at times be the most ugliest airplane in the world, or the stick like figure, but all of the specify, are built for a beginner.
The price and the cost for airplane, won't count anymore, once your hooked. -- Word of advice, don't get into it. Don't get into this hobby, but then you will miss out from all the fun that we are having.
Go for the wingo:) Tiger Moth, LiteStick, Crazy Max. These are all tested by beginners and expert alike. (ohhh!! Wait, there is no expert in this hobby, because if you crash, your back to this forum, asking yet, questions, HUM!! like me:) )
$$-- Crash? $$:) happy flyer, check out and read reviews here in the forum:) Click on search, and enter a specific thing that you are searching for and hit enter:)

Thanks for your reply.
I don't like LiteStick as much as these others. First off, the insignia doesn't appeal to me (maybe it doesn't need to be applied?); and more importantly, it sounds like it's not a trainer (read http://www.nyblimp.com/litestick.htm).
It seems like my choice should be among Wingo, Soarstar, and Tiger Moth.
I'll try to avoid judging by looks!
What do you mean by a "good wing-loading area?" Would this be a high one or a low one?
Thanks for all your help!

Hello Bkazaz,
Here are a few thoughts on those choices. Any of the three you have mentioned work well as trainers. A consideration about flying opportunities is the ability to fly in a breeze after your skill builds. The TM is the most limited of all, needing very quiet conditions for best results. I have seen both the Wingo and the Soarstar flying on many days when a TM would be grounded.
The TM is the more delicate of the bunch, although possibly able to fly in tighter areas after you build your skills.
Do not sell the "Stik" short. it is a very good trainer with minimal modofications. I can vouch for the fact that it flies just fine without any insignia. I have shared one with my teenage daughter, and she picked up on the skills in a flight or two.
The thought about the wing loading is that a low wing loading is desirable in an electric trainer, especially if you plan to learn alone. The minimum flying speed is directly linked to the wing loading. Lighter=slower. The top speed is pretty much a function of motor and battery choices. The wingo, Soarstar, and Litestik all will have about the same top speed, while the Tiger Moth is a bit more limited.
Take care, Dave
