Does the Plane of the Month - Micromaster work with the RFFS-100 from Dynamics Unlimited?

Also I'm new to this hobby - please inform me of a good/decent radio (that doesn't break the bank) when using/building planes for the RFFS - 100.

Thank You.

Joe:)

Hello Toeknee,
The Micromaster is quite a bit too large for the RFFS-100. Another option is to take the Pixel plan and reshape the surfaces to resemble whatever you like. As long as you keep about the same area and angles, the flight will not be affected. I am personally fond of the Hitech transmitters. You can choose whatever level suits as far as "bells and whistles" based on your budget. Hitech has just about the best service and support in the industry.

Hi Joe:
I'll agree with Dave, the "Micro" will be a little large for the rff100 system. You might try the Astro-Bipe marketed by www.storeofwonder.com. Its a really cute little foam bi-plane (rubber power) that converts to the little KP00 geared motor, and rff100 perfectly. I still get a kick out of flying it, and the price was only $8.00, if I remember right. I the entry price for the rff100 is a little stiff, look hard at the GWS pico 4ch receiver. Look at URL www.aeromicro.com. I've found that he has some of the best inventory and prices available, and with a excellent ship time. Sometimes he will offer a first time buyer of the little 4ch receiver a really good deal on a complete flight pack(receiver, servos, esc, & batteries). Just call and ask if the beginners sale is still on. Can't hurt.

Dave and Byron,

I want to thank you for your quick and helpful replies.

Dave, I think I will build the Pixel as you mentioned.

Is there a "mid - range" Hitech you might recommend?

Byron - I looked at the GWS Pico - is that system for planes that are a little larger? It looked like it but I couldn't be certain as the description wasn't too detailed.

Guys - this is a great website. Dave, I plan on getting the RFFS-100 within the next few weeks and begin building my own pixel!

I will keep you posted on progess.

Joe

Hi Joe,
I will jump in with an answer to the equipment question. The GWS line of equipment is pretty much targeted at models that weigh 5-6 oz. or more, and have 24-36" wingspan (sometimes larger). Some of us cut and trim on the plastic housings and rewire point to point with thinner wire and get down to the 3 oz range, but that can be tricky, and obviously voids all the warranties.
Happy building, Dave
