I'm a TOTAL newbie at R/C boats, and as such, I don't know Jack about them... But I'm thinking of buying me an R/C boat, the Graupner Phantom, It looks kinda cool and doesn't cost too much. But you're the experts here so I'm asking;
Is this kit crap or well worth it's money? Any other sugestions are welcome.

The Phantom is a fairly new Graupner boat, so not much info is currently up on the boat. Looking at the catalog photos, it's a basic six-cell boat with a molded inner hull setup that holds the motor, radio, etc. in place. For the price it's a great entry-level electric boat that should handle big waves really well, but hopup options might be limited by it's inner hull arrangement.

Well, i bought it this weekend, and got the help of a friend to assemble my first boat. I must say, it's great fun! It seems to pull more to one side while attempting to go straight, but i'm certain i'll be able to fix it. And the speed control is of the analoge type so it tends to hang at the lowest speed sometimes.
Oh well, it isn't perfect but i must say, it's worth every $ (for a beginners time boat). A bit more speed and a better battery should make it even more fun. I think my next boat will be the Fiat Uno from Graupner, it really looks the part.

Hey man,
I love Graupner boats, in fact Graupner is the only company I buy from. Their boats are very well made and most live up to their speed reputation. The phantom is a fairly fast boat, the rest of the people who have posted repleis hav told you it runs on 6 cells. thats fine, but I run my Old phantom on 7-8 cells and that geatly increses speed and run time. Get the Phantom, its a great first boat(My First) its fast when you get it, and poppin in a 7-8 cell pack will make it awesome!
