I want to tint the canopy for my 1/3 scale Extra 300L. How do I do it?

Hi Gdlong,
That's a monster canopy! I have had good results with Rit fabric dye mixed in warm water. Let it soak until you get the shade you are looking for. If you have a scrap to play with first, so much the better. Too much heat in the dye would warp your canopy, so take it easy there.

I already tried it with a scrap piece and no luck. I heard that some plastic canopys don't accept tinting.

Hi, There is another possibility. Some model shops carry a line of translucent colored spray enamels that are normally applied over a metalflake base to produce the "candy" style finish on model cars. The translucent enamel may well give an acceptable result if dye won't cut it.

try using pactra window tint, its in a can, and its made to pain RC car lexan bodies. but practice first on a scrap piece, and use VERY LIGHT coats
