I was on www.balsapr.com looking at the GWS four channel Tx. I have thw GWS R4P Rx but no crystal for it. They sell the special UM1 crystals that the R4P requires. It has channels 11-60 but i dont know what specific frequencies these are. I know they are in the 72mh band though. Also, is this channel numbering system compatable with all other companies? Another thing is on the Tx ordering page it says to specify my first second and third choice for the Tx frequency on the note section of there ordering form. Now, I would like to have the same frequency for my Tx and Rx when i get it in the mail. So i dont get why i would give them three choices. But anyway, when i do order it should i say the channel (11-60) or the specific frequency? it could be just me but i dont get some of this. Thanks guys for your help.

P.S. Unil i read the thread on the rff-100 range i thought that the length on the antenna didnt matter as long as you didnt cut too much off. I just bought a pico-stick and the antenna hung out almost 20 inches so i cut off close to 10 inches of it. How is this gunna affect my range? it was a 39 in. to begin with.

thanks again.

Hi Brandon,
First, there are specific frequencies for the numbered channels. You can find this info at at the AMA website www.modelaircraft.org . It is not necessary to know this to order or operate equipment. What it sounds like you are runing into at Balsa Products is pretty typical. When they get a shipment of transmitters in, the crystals are already installed, and it would take a massive number of transmitters to have several on each channel. So, they ask for those preferences. The difference is with the receiver they can stock a bin full of crystals and match them to the receiver when they fill the order. You might want to give them a call if you are ordering the transmitter and receiver, that way you can be sure and get a match that suits you. Great guys to deal with.

Hi, I don't mean to sound glib, but put 10" back on. It can just about any type of wire, the flexible wire with multiple strands is best. Apparently quite a few folks find good use for the wire in the cable of a defective mouse. Attaching it with solder would be best, but if that is a problem, carefully skin the insulation off of the end of each piece of wire and tightly twist them together. A little wrap of tape would round out the job.
