Try getting a better engine or a 7 cell battery. i dont have a mad bull so you might want to buy these to at tower hobbies. you should get a pinion set, and a couple of spur gears. if the motors to powerful it will shread the gear.

Get smaller tires and see what happens. Tell your dad to go e-bays and get some old Tamiya 2WD rims with block tires that has 6 holes on it and some skinny 2wd ribs for your front tires. To make your battery last longer, invest in some reversible Electronic Speed Control (ESC) which sell at least 40 bucks new (towerhobbies.com) and get a 3000 MaH Nickel Metal Hydride battery from Radio Shack ($34.99) with it's quick charger (I think it was $60 but it's a very good $60 bucks of investment) and you should have more fun with your Mad Bull. The Big tires is the reason why your battery drains so quickly. Try with the Radio Shack battery first, if it didn't help...yell your dad to go online and buy you an ESC

i dont see why you should get smaller tires. and you cant get bigger pinions since it has fixed gears. go for a rebiuldable stock motor and a esc and a good battery pack. i put together one and since the bigger tires make it geared higher it goes faster. but if you want higher run time go for the smaller ones. and you can get durataks esc for less than fifty. go to great plians for that.

i never saw the gearing on the madbull. I have an evader st and a smaller spur gear and a larger pinion gave it more power. i want more power out of it so i going to get a 7 cell (will fit) and it i can a p94 16turned. you have a point though smaller tires would make to good of use offroad. but the 3000 battery should work.

I still run a Madbull and have had it for ages. It's great in mud but it doesn't seem to like water (i'm gonna get a waterproofing kit) I currently run it with a Novak Cyclone C2 esc, Hpi Firebolt 15t Motor and 5000mah Battery. It is crazily fast and hard to handle at top speed. I wanted a higher ride height at the front so it was better off road (and up kerbs) so i just put a spare set of the rear shocks onto the front. Is there anyway that i could gain better grip without changing the ride height. I am considering getting oil filled shocks and getting 2 sets of the rear and no fronts (keeping higher ride height at the front!) any better tires or anything else that is upgradeable?

Upgrading to a stickier set of tires would so wonders. The old V-treads are great for nostalgia, but not the best performers. Some HPI geolanders would be a good match.

Would the Hpi geolanders be a straight swap on their wheels or would i need to put them on some madbull wheels?

Also, are the geolanders any good offroad and in mud/slippery conditions?

You would neeed some HPI or Tamiya 2.2 wheels to make that work. Mad Bull wheels are slightly smaller in diameter.
Geo's are good all around tires, and a pretty good fit for the MB, but any 4" or so 2.2 tire would work. Proline makes a ton of great 2.2 tires.

Are these tires any good, they look good! >>> http://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=11402
Would they then fit on these?

I'm getting a new speed controller that, when you brake, it recharges the battery! Almost like KERS. (kinetic energy recovery system ) in F1

I wanted a Tamiya Mad Bull from the first time I saw one in a Tower Hobbies catalog when I was very new to the hobby. It has that uniquely Tamiya appeal to it that just grabs your attention and attempts to hypnotize you into buying it. It's not just any old buggy with disproportionately large tires, no. There's something else about it. Something indescribable...
The slightly modified Grasshopper II body, with the front trimmed to clear the shock tower and the body mounts moved a bit, keeps the center of the Mad Bull looking slim and sleek. The moderately long front arms with laid-down shocks and the clean lines of the transaxle tubes, unencumbered by vertical shock mounts, set the Lunchbox wheels & tires off far from the core business section. To me it looks like a high-speed lunar rover as envisaged by LEGO or maybe Playmobil.
Once you get past the amazing goodness of the Mad Bull, though, you start to realize that it's a dreadfully awful piece of kit, in its own way. The big, thick, heavy tires and the almost completely offset wheels they ride on provide all manner of leverage on the suspension, placing more strain on parts than they're really designed to handle. The steering setup, which comes partially pre-assembled, looks like it has pretty good geometry, with the links parallel to the arms at rest and very similar in length. Then you compress the suspension and realize an ungodly amount of bump-steer toe-in, thanks to the front arms being of the single-jointed swing-arm style with full camber gain/loss through the range of motion like the rear end of an old VW Beetle. When driving over bumps & small jumps, the two front tires basically do whatever they please, whenever they please. You can guide them, sure, but you can't really control them.

I had it running at around 35mph with that kit i got. The esc quickly burn't itself out even with full ball bearings throughout. I gave up the Madbull after this and decided to begin racing. I got a Team Associated B4 Buggy and i have upgraded it to a 6.5t brushless and 40C lipo battery (7.4v 420mAh)
I intend to go racing at leyland (Ribble Valley Radio Control Car Club)
