I'm looking for a good plane for a begginer that is gas powered. I hate the idea of using batteries and only being able to fly for a certain amount of time and then going to recharge.

I have a huge field with very thick and tall grass (hay field) So crashes aren't going to hurt the plane all that much ..I hope.

So i'm looking for something thats affordable, gas powered, and fun and easy to fly. I would also prefure a plane that takes off without throwing it. Any suggestions? thank you

Sig LT-40, you can get it in kit form and also ARF. This plane has a 6 ft. wing span and flies on a .40 size gas engine. I don't own one but I've flown one and it is a dream to fly. Flat bottom airfoil for a stable flight and big enough to see at a distance. By far the easiest route to take is the RTF planes offered by Hobbico ( I think) about a half an hour to assemble and comes with a Futaba radio and an OS Max .40 engine already installed! Plus it's an all balsa bulit plane. Air-Core offers a corragated plastic kit, it's unconventional to build and rather heavy so it flies fast and will drop from the sky if your not careful but I've seen them hit the ground so hard and fly again! Damn near indestructable. Hope this helps, Saabdawg

Ive been into Rc Trucks, boats and a heli. After lots of reading up, I decided on the ARF Kadet LT 40. Also, got the Magnum 46 and a hitec laser 4 radio. All together I paid 370.00. Only thing about the kit I didnt really like is they use some type of CA (super glue) absorbing cloth for the hinges. They are a very snug fit into the hinge cuts, bending the stiff cloth. I used a hobby knife to open those cuts up a little, and with patience, they all went together well.
Still waiting on somone with a buddy box who can help me learn.
That parts killing me as ive had the plane ready to go now for a week.
Anyway.......if your lookin for a trainer, id also go with that plane...the local clubs here use it all the time. When I finally get it up, im sure I will love it, ill repost when that happens. (in the nitro section...sorry to the electric guys here, new to the forum)

I hate to rain on your parade, but you are heading for a big disappointment. Before I get to what I want to say the term "gas engine" is generally used for the larger so called chain saw engines. What you want is usually called a glow engine and uses an alcohol/oil mixture for fuel.
The LT airplane suggested is fine to start on. Unfortunately I know what will happen the first time you try it. If you manage to get it in the air at some point it`s going to head for the ground and the steeper the angle the less the tall grass will help it It`s very possible for it to destoy it self.

My suggestion is get the LT 40, I have helped people with the Air-Core planes and found they leave much to be desired. Their big selling point is how indestructable they. If you go about learning the proper way you won`t have to be concerned about the crashing part.

When you build your plane get hold of an RC flyer and have him check the airplane. Being new at it there are many things that may have seemed minor to you, but could be very important to the airworthiness of the airplane. Have this person fly the plane the first time. If you`re lucky the plane will fly ok. Most likely there will have to some adjustments made.
If you can work out a buddy box setup with somebody that is a very good way to learn. If not the instructor gets the airplane in air gets it a few mistakes high and gives the transmiiter to you.

I have been in this many years and seen a lot of mistakes made which caused some people to stay out of RC flying. I really hope you won`t be one of them.

Dave

Thanks for the replies guys. I have decided to get into RC cars first, but I will come to planes as soon as I get more $$ :)
