i am an r/c car guy.........i am going to get an airplane and need to know what fuel do i need to use? i have been looking at the tower trainer with an o.s. .46 engine / in my nitro truck i`ve been running blue thunder 20%.......are the fuels the same in cars and planes? and also would this be a high percentage? or do i need to step down to a 10 or 15%? and does anyone know of any links as to where i might be able to find someone in my area who flys? and btw there are no hobby shops near me(100 to 150 miles)..
.thanks, john

Hi John,
10-12% fuel is a good mix for that engine. Better still, buy the fuels that have a small amount of castor oil mixed in. 20% will run mighty hot in a sport OS engine. A lot of the guys around me order fuel shipped because there is no LHS anywhere nearby.
Good luck, Dave

I have found that 15% nitro Omega fuel works great in the OS .46. But as long as your car fuel has atleast 18% oil I see no problem using it for the plane. I have run my OS .46 with 30% heli fuel with no problems, in fact the engine has more power and doesn't run any hotter.

I use Wildcat premium xtra, as most of the guys do at our club. Its 10% nitro synthetic/castor blend(80/20). And, at 10.75 a gallon, its a great buy. As far as local clubs, try the AMA site, there you can find lists of clubs in your area. Hope this helps ya, Joe
