What type power source are looking to power your boat, as plans will dictate this. Electric, nitro and even gasboat plans are out there, plus do you want to build from plastic or wood?

I have built 3 and 4. The cat is Jay Turner's 25" boat and was fun to run but u need a big motor like the 700 SSI on 12-2000 cells if u can find 2000, they are good!!!!! Easy to build. The pink sty. foam for sponson. Ok, yellowjacket i built 6 of them till i said enough. The sponson was the hardest part to get correct attack level and toein on sponson. The 14/2 Speed gem was not big enough motor. I read i believe Hydroman has one but a Mega motor or a BL for power and i believe a p-94 would fit the bill for 7-cells. Ok #2 is a cardboard from U.K. and i believe it to be a pain in the a--. #1 is abeautiful boat but for beginners, no way and u will get dicouraged. I am retired and have scratch built 3 Electrafieds and i say i will take these boats over 98% of the factory types and i am not one for bs. The last one is 24 5/8" long and 7" wide with a 700bb-8.4-12-2400 Hilltop cells and a 60 amp. esc water proof and water cooled and an extended strut and rudder and a 642 prop cut down to a 638 an d it moves. I will send a picture.

The first boat you pictured is an Atlas Van Lines designed by Garry Finlay. He lives near me and we've run boats togather. That paticular hull is 1/16th scale and is about 22 inches long. A good power source for sport running would be 6-8 cells and a 13-17 turn speed gems motor. You can see the contruction article for that boat here: http://www.rcboatmodeler.com/RB/plans/fspb1201.asp
I am currently finishing up a boat of similar size (DPI American Dream) which I'm outfitting with 8 cells and an Astroflight 306 Cobalt motor.
Garry Finlay also designed the same hull (Atlas Van Lines) in 12th scale, which is much larger, and would be great for 12 cells powering a Speed 700 motor as an Limited Sport Hydro (LSH), or you could use 12-16 cells and a brushless motor for awesome speeds. I plan on building one for a budding LSH class here in Portland. I'm using a similar sized hull (DPI T-plus) for a speed demon with an Aveox brushless motor and up to 16 cells.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy yourself.

College freshman off of RRR Forum from Portland , Oregon with an attitude problem of 19yrs. old and knows all the answers to make himself look good, still wet yet!!! LOL and suggestion u gave for power , no way , not enough power and for 05 size there is no 8-cell motor except 05 neo with a 12/3 handwound arm. The 6-cells won't hardly push with what u suggested. My idea of SSI is good only on 8 cells here due to space. I also have a American Dreamand a pain to setup in perfect condition. There is one motor and that is a Grauper 600SP-7.2 which can handle 8-cells and has good torque and i suppose u don't like that either, what do u like, yourself!!!!!! LOL Don't give me the lawyer bit either like u did before u quit on RRR and came back, get real!!! LOL

i no what the boat is cuz im building one lol:) but for stock whats a good motor and battery setup?? also whats a good prop for the boat?
The prop would be 435 or there is a plastic by Octura prop 534 amd why i recommend it is plastic flex's a little for the 34mm which i good and bad but for fun i like it and for $1.25a piece u can have a lot of fun. U are going to have to run .098 flex which should do well and the Grauper 600SP-7.2 for $30.00, no fooling and use smaller stuffing tube and teflon. Just order a stuffing tube with teflon to match for .098 flex and a strut to match. I built a David Frank 21" hydro from pencil drawings and was to flimsy and if this is the first boater u sure picked a very hard boat to work with. May i send u a picture of a 24 5/8" mono elongated from 20" and 7" wide. Hang on!!

What the heck is your malfunction? How do I have an attitude problem? Let me know and I'll try to adjust them. As for power, I got those specs right off Garry Finlay, who designed the boat. As for quitting on RRR, that never happened. I simply had little time to spend on there and it was winter, boat season was gone, so my posts puttered out... I didn't leave. I came back cause I was still interested in boats and decided, "hey, lets see what's happening at RRR". As for my power for my American Dream, I talked with Garry Finlay and he said that my motor choice was excelent (astroflight cobalt 306), especially since I got it for only $50 and it works like a charm. He though that the Aveox 1412/1.5Y on 12 cells would be amazing to see in a boat, which is going into my T-plus. Niether of these boats are intented to be racing boats, both are for recreation use.
As for knowing all the answers, no I don't. But I've been in this hobby of R/C for 8+ years. I've flown R/C planes (as well as real ones), raced R/C cars and driven R/C boats. In the near future, if my pocket book allows it, I plan on getting into helis.
No, as for profiles, why don't you get some testicular fortitude and fill yours in. Thank you and have a nice day.
-Frank
My fortitude is fine and as far as u r attitude goes leopard doesn't change spots. Which is it college freshman or is it hobby store employee and to tell the truth i really don't care and talk about malfunction , check the mirror!!!I can go on like this all day but it is just a waste of time on u r part and u r taking up space. U ask questions on RRR Forum when u know the answers and when someone answers u intimidate those people by arguing and telling them they know nothing. This is the last transmission between u and i !!!!

*rolls eyes* Well, I was a college freshman until I decided to take some time off (stress relief... I over worked myself) Now I work in a hobby shop. I plan on returning to school in a few short months.
Asking questions on the RRR forum is not a crime. As for knowing the answers.... If I did know the answers, then I wouldn't be asking questions, would I? I may be pretty firm in the answer to my own question sometimes, but I ask to reaffirm myself, so that I know what I'm doing is right. There are people there like Andy Kunz and Garry Finlay who know a lot more than I and sometimes I'd like their opinions on the matter, as well as anyone else who can leave a helping hand.
"Check the mirror" What kinda come-back is that? No offence, but that is kinda childish.
As for intimidating and arguing, show me an example of when I've done that recently (or at all). I think you're talking about yourself here.
As for a waste of time on my part... yes, you are wasting my time.

LOL
so funny, so funny...
FrankW is a good bloke, so why did you start to say stuff like that?
just because you "think" you know it all doesnt mean you are better than the rest of us who are trying to learn new things about the hobby, since it is constanly change, moving upwards! but attitudes like yours are the ones that turn some people away from the hobby and Forums like this where they try to get help with a problem that they might have...and most people are willing to help them out, so i dont see what your problem is!
btw Frank, how is the paint job on your WaveMaster coming along? cant wait to see it

I found a bunch of cracks in the hull, so I decided to toss it (keeping the cowl, which looks awesome) and I'll get a new hull in a few weeks. But right now I'm working on my American Dream, which is currently Metalic Red. Looks sweet... but a little too plain right now. However, I can't think of a design to use on it. I might just keep it red, but it looks like a Miss Bud that way.

As this is a public forum, it is everyone's business. How old are you sir? Because in my opinion, you are acting like a 5 year old. You apperantly have been following my comments for a long time... how long? Who are you on RRR, so I can see who's following me? You don't know me personally, and why do you really care? I'm seeing a pattern in you too, you are being very and unjustly rude. Please explain yourself. Thank you.
