Ok, I am not a newbie to RC, but I am only just now planning on a 2nd RC. I would like to get something vintage, or different from the rest. I do have a Stampede, so i figured for my 2nd i could go with something slower, or maybe lil more fragile, because i also have the pede to back me up.
The following choices are all Tamiya. I am not currently interested
in performance or fragility. I am thinkin mostly about the clod buster at the moment due to the vast array of aftermarket chassis available.
1) Tamiya Clodbuster
2) Tamiya Blackfoot
3) Tamiya XB Hummer RTR
4) Tamiya XB Mustang RTR
I can go as high as $300 and i already have plan to buy oil shocks at the same time as ordering any of the vehicles(because all of the above have friction shocks). Depending on price, i will also get an ESC and better motor(s) at time of ordering. Can yall help me out ?

Out of your choices, I would pick the Clod Buster. I used to have one and it was a lot of fun.
The cool thing you can do is buy the Novak ESC which is used on the E-maxx. Now its possible to make the Clod Buster powerfull!
I think it would make a great project kit for you.......my only other advise would be to spend $300 & get an E-Maxx. Its the best electric truck I've ever owned.
If you get the Clod Buster, what are your plans for it? Any Mods?
Good Luck,

Yes i do have plans for it. I plan on a an ESC, new motors, and definetly an aluminum chassis. I'm planning on an aluminum chassis from either ESP or New Era. If i do buy the Clod, I'll order from Tower Hobbies(i'm a member, i'll get free shipping). At the same time i'll get 4 oil shocks and replace the friction shocks while building the kit.

Sounds great! When I had a Clod Buster there were no aftermarket parts out for it, so I sold it to one of my buddies. The sad thing is he was out running it in a busy parking lot one day and it was hit by a real truck
May it rest in peace
I couldn't pick on him too bad because when I first got into r/c cars, the Grasshopper was my first kit. Needless to say, mine got run over too.........that was almost 15 years ago

Why go with a stock clod? Buy an aftermarket chassis then get the gear cases/tires/wheels seperately($180 brand new at ThunderTechRacing site). Look at the JPS chassis at www.JPSPro.com. I heard it is strong, and if it was based on looks only, JPS is the Rolls Royce of them all. With some modifying you can make it have more articulation then a Clod IV. Also check out the Thunder Tech Ripper. I'm not sure how it is on performance but it sure does look killer with the carbon fiber. www.ThunderTechRacing.com. Finally, check out www.ClodParts.com. It's basically a catalog for Clod parts, chassis', etc. but you don't buy from them, it just list them.

I know.Buying just the axels/wheels/tires was one of my plans. I'll only do that if i can find a good priced aluminum chassis. Thanks for the comments yall.

go with the black foot. leave the shocks stock. this thing is the funest thing to drive. the only problem is the fixed gearing. but still is freaking fun to drive. but any other would be a good choice too
