i'm this close to ordering the plane minus the radio. does anyone have any comments or opinions on the kit
There are other good airplanes out there, this one is not all of that, and you'll be having a hard time getting it to fly. It looks nice, but it will be a task of repairs.

what do you recommend?
I can name a few, and all of the airplanes, that I'll probably mention to you is already talked about this in here. Check the airplane forum, introduce yourself, and get into into one of the already started threads, for if I'll tell you, I don't have the website to back it up.
My question for you is, do you want to build or have the airplane already and set to fly?
For kits. The best one's around and still is number one. Is mountain hobby, and it's new kit is the cessna. One of the easiest airplane to build and fly, that's if your good in building.
ARF - On the other shand, there is the award winning TigerMoth. Wingo and soarstar. Heck, you can get a firebird from Horizon Hobby.com, I think, that bird is a killer airplane, and suitable for a newcomer as well.
Check out the threads:)
Hope that helps:)

well i do want arf and i'm a newbie. and i want something that looks sort of like a plane too.
Balsa or foam. For foam, get a TigerMoth, you wouldn't like Firebirds XL's for they don't look like an airplane.
Check out Hobby people they got an airplane just for you. It's called the Ezette or the Impress. 480 motor and 8cell 800mAh. (change the battery to 8 cell 600AE's rocket flight) this airplane is balsa.
Check out my threads about the Ezette and my pictures of it's flight.
Don't go for the looks, cheapies wanna- look alike, scale airplanes..
Again, it's your money, and I think you've been eyeing this plane for sometime, all I can say it's up to you, and your money:)

The Wright brothers first flew a mere stick figure airplane, and it flew, that's how they understood flight, improved it and their skills...

I crashed and repaired this plane countless times. The control horns busted away from the foam, rendering it useless. Lack of cash, so I used tiny strips of masking tape and spread CA over the tape creating a frankenstein looking plane. Flew pretty darn good with some effort because it kept wanting to lean over, wonder why. HA. Alas I am a bit frustrated with this plane because I only had two successful flights out of 10 crashes. 2 of which were quite bad. After my last successfull flight, I decided to fly it the next day. I think the battery was messed up because it never flew right afterwards, in fact I ended up ordering all new parts until I realized I could have go the arf for the same price because now I find my motor shaft is bent. Trying to fly it even after straightening it for the most part proved DEADLY. It nosed over on my after turn one and crashed straight to the pavement. I wouldnt recommend this for a first time flyer. I would recommend the Firebird's. That Warbird has the same engine as the aerocruise, but takes MUCH more damage. MY brother nosed his in on a troubled landing, picked it up and threw it again. My aerocruiser would have require at least 30 mins of repair for how hard he hit. His didn't have a scratch on it. Not to mention, the controls are a bit squirly. It's not the gentle usage of a 40 trainer, it's like flying a jet at times or something (not that I really know) but I can tell you, it definetely is not a trainer or a first time plane. To repair, buy masking tape and remember that those wing struts are your best friend.
I stupidly bought two of Aero, none of both got up to the air sucessfully. Changed three new 400 motors on the second one, because of the nose dived landing. (bent motor shaft)
(First one crashed completely during the hand launch) thought was my own fault, bought the second one, problem remained. Will never buy any planes from Hobbic*. Next plane going to be Slow Stick or Tiger Moth. Have Heard a lot of positive comments from those two planes.
