Does anybody have one of these and can you get them in England yet?

I don't know where you got the ideal it's a Kawada copy. I have both cars and they are nothing alike.

The car is pretty good but has the tendancy to go through front one-ways. They make a conversion which lowers the batteries. I believe there is a new version coming out.

For the price Towers has them for right now they are a good bargin. I bought mine when they first came out and it was $330. I believe Tower will ship to England if you can't get it there.

Man, its a shame what happened to this car. Kyosho pretty much killed any chance it had to sell well with the original price the stuck on it. At least Tower Hobbies has drop the price to what it should have been originally.

It still looks like a nice car. Anybody got one just sitting around that they may want to trade for a mildly hopped up Micro w/electronics.

If so, hit me here gregcres@sunflower.com

This car looks like a good deal. I just got into rc this summer and i have already gotten a Alpha S2000 ep, and i am VERY satisfied. I also got a Evader st ep, good machine, though the 20t kinda sucks in the yard...

Anyways... I was thinking of getting competitive soon by participating in some local races, and i was thinking of upgrading my tc to a kx-one. I am not a rich american, I am a 14 yr old Canadian, so price is a big factor. Kx-Ones are priced perfectly at 200usd, but there are some other cars in this category. Pro 3s look pretty good, along with XXXSs or a TC3 with a few ups.

Are there any other cars in this price category that would interest me? I am absolutely satsfied with my alpha, nothing broken (only the tires had to be replaced, because the got torn off the rims) or wrong with it... Kyosho seems like a sure bet to me, but Im new to this hobby, can anyone help me?

You mean Great Plains AKA Tower Hobbies. They are the exclusive importer of Kyosho in the USA and they are making a killing on each kit and part they sell here.

For example: The Kyosho MP7.5 Yuichi Kanai II sells in Japan for something like US$650 with an RB Concepts Worlds S7 engine. Without, it's like $500. Don't forget, this is over the counter, not wholesale pricing!

It is a very nice car, from pictures I've seen. It is also very hard to find around my area (Australia) and most shops don't have it in stock due to price. I think my friend is actually going to Japan to purchase it, but I haven't seen one around at meets or on the street.

How much is it these days for just a kit in the U.S?

eliseracer
01-19-2003, 09:51 AM
palad, the kit goes for 199USD.
schnitzer, I would also go for the 414 but it would end up costing me around 600CDN :( Like I said, Pro3, XXXS or maybe a Team TC3 (and this) Didnt Yokomo make a nice TC similar to these?

Looking at the pics, how do you get the battery out? Through the underside?

Kyosho also brags about the first single belt TC, well what about their own Alpha EP, mine has a single belt and it came out before the KX-One, maybe cos its an entry level RTR, so it doesnt count ;)

Can we get any feedback from someone who drives one (also who drove it for more than several runs, not just some guy who tried it out at the local track, spun it cause he cant drive, then said that the car sucks)? If you people see one, ask the guy how he likes it, I know me and many others would appreciate the feedback on this car, especially if we want to get one.

elise: If your looking to get your first racing TC, then getting one that has a one-way may not be the best idea. I saw that you are interested in the XXX-S. Stormer hobbies is selling the original for only $159 since the Graphite Plus came out. To me, that seems like an unbeatable deal for the price and for a new comer to racing.

I am about to pick up a KX-One soon to try it out. I should have it ready to race by next weekend. I'll let you know what I think of it after racing it.

elise: don't waste your time with flamers. One of the things I really like about the RCCA message board is that they don't allow people to keep flaming a car on that cars thread. So have no doubt that if he comes here to flame again, they will deal with it.

Anyway, I'll be getting mine tomorrow and getting it put together before this weekends races. Should be fun.

I only called it a mistake because of it's high price, and defective one way. I had one for almost a year but traded it for a pro 3. The design is cool, but it wasn't worth the $330 the guy I bought it from paid for it (I got it for $80). Is anybody happy with their's??

pengaru

I've had a kx-one for around 6 months now, I'm quite happy with the kit. It's a pretty fast and nimble car, and has proved to be relatively durable. My setup is currently:

ko propo mars ex-1 xmitter and reciever
futaba s9301 steering servo
novak gt7 esc
peak racing matched sanyo 2400mah 6 cell
reedy 13 turn tc modified motor
deans connectors

I purchased the following kx-one kyosho options, the rear belt tensioner, blue anodized aluminum motor mount w/heat sink fins, sway bar sets and i think that is it.

the car is fast, it is faster than my coworkers tc3 with very similar electronics, and I've broken much less stuff.

The only part I've broken on the car is the front one-way, and that was immediately after installing the modified motor and flipping it with no body on the car, under power. The front wheel struck the ground, upside down, under power... this destroyed the bearing for that wheel in the one-way.

After replacing the one-way it has been pretty bulletproof.

I have some pictures and movies available for download here:

kyosho kx-one (http://pengaru.com/~swivel/kx-one/)

I also have some others from when assembling I will just inline here:

I agree though - shop around for your Kyosho products and you will be as happy as any other-brand camper. Japan is an obvious place to go for Kyosho/Futaba/OS, but it seems Hong Kong is another good place to look - i've seen quite a few good/reliable online stores in HK.

you should not have a problem with running a diff on the front. i have two kx-one's and one of them is raced with diffs in both the front and rear. you may have to buy a set of front bearing /collar holder and a set of 10x15 bearings.

in case you are interested, the kyosho website has a blurb on running diffs in the front. http://www.kyosho.com/techsupport/kyoc0100tech.html

Tower Hobbies price now for the KX-One (after discount) is less than $110.!!! I bought one, but on my tight track I need maximum braking, abd the one-way diff up front made the car swap ends immediately. So I bought another car, so that I can put two standard diffs in one car and keep everything else from the second car a spare parts -- you would't have to buy a lot of parts before you'd spend $110!!!! If anyone is interested in two brand new one-way diffs let me know, otherwise I'll put them on Ebay. Also, please let me know of any Hong Kong dealers in parts that you've had good experience with.

Other than the front diif, the car is awesome, and I'm sure it will be an indestructable winner when finished!

Yes. While the KX-One is a beautiful, incredably precisely engineered car, it does n ot suit my small, rough, tight track. I will continue to run my Rallys, and develop them further. The Ebay auction includes two! complwete cars. The one assembled car now has the two standard diffs installed, and it runs great. If you would want to complete both cars you would have to put a one-way diff in the front of both cars.

Hey Everyone,

I bought a KX-One a few months back when Tower Hobbies slashed the price. When I was building it, I noticed that no matter how hard I tried I could not mount the motor correctly. The spur and the pinion would not touch no matter how much I tried to force it. I tried like 4 different types of motors too. I thought I may have had a defective motor mounting plate, so I bought another KX-One because they were dirt cheap and ya get tons of performance parts for it. Upon building this one, the same thing happened. I had to drill two new holes in the mounting plate just to get the spur and pinion to mesh correctly. Did Kyosho mess up and package the wrong size pinion or spur with some of these kits? Anyways, I do like the way the car runs, but only for parking lot fun. Has anyone else had the same problem with mounting the motor??

Does anybody have some set up suggestion for raving the stock KX-One ?

I'm the only one that after one winter in the garage the KX-One started to get a lot of rust, mainly in the links, and near the bearing ? ... ok the garage is humid ... but the other rc-car there didn't develop rust !

Guys,

A couple of you posted looking for cheap KX-1's for sell. In the months after your posts there have been several listings for KX-1's that have gone un-noticed with few to zero bids. Did you guys lose interest? What happened?

Also, because there were no-one interested in these deals, I was able to snap up a few. In addition, I also found a 2-speed unit for it as well. According to the lister, its only good for mild winds like 19T on up. I'm looking to set miine up to chase after some gas cars on the short track.

Anyways, while fishing around, I found that Kyosho makes several other hop-ups for the KX-1 that Tower/Great Planes did not carry. In addition to the 2-speed, there are also some aluminum suspension arm mounts that changes the caster to 0 deg. Another interesting item were universal drive shafts that have a oneway built into them.

See it all here at http://www.kyosho.co.jp/rc_model/touring_rally/kx-one/kx-one_option/kx-one_option-e.html

Now I know there are some of you who are very savvy about the KX-1 and all its options or Kyosho options in general. So, let me ask you this, where can I find a dealer that sells some of this stuff online? Its not easy to find suppliers of optional parts for Kyosho ELECTRIC cars other than Tower or E-bay. However, there must be a source out there. If any of you guys know of it please post it or send it to me in a message.

Thanks for the help in advance

I've also got a few of ebay in the last month or two. One of them came with many aluminum parts from other companies but none of these are Kyosho parts. I would also like to find a way to get these parts if possible. If I find anything I'll post it. If you do too could you do the same? I really like this car.

Already did. Most of those option parts on that page are not even listed in the manual. The manual mostly option parts like pinions, tires, inserts and etc. However no trick parts. :(

BTW, if any of you are wondering about the the special battery holder that Tower lists as carbon, well its WRONG! The holder is made of FRP (AKA fiberglass). Also the plates are mounted with screws, such that three screws on either plate must be undone to remove and make battery changes. There are no clips of any sort like the stock side trays.

What it does though is allow you to double tape very small electronics so that you can maintain the slim look of the chassis (kinda cool). I setting up mine with a Novak Atom or an LRP Quantum ESC and a Futaba micro receiver. I'll try to post a pic as soon as I can. :)

Cool ... have you got the original 2 speed unit ?

It is a finger shift 2 speed ?

I got a Stampede 2 speed unit ... and I was able to use in my KX-1.
The problem it is that is quite brute in the gear shift ... so not good for racing !

In my first race I made a DNF ... since my one way unit got broken too fast : on one side it was free and on the other it was blocked !

Got a spare from Kyosho Germany.

Has anybody try to replace the one way unit ... just replacing the one way ball bearing? it is more easy to find the bearing then the original kyosho part.

Anyhow ... on the track my KX-1 was quite fast, and attract some attention ... since nobody has never seen a KX-1 in Austria.

It is a crappy idea to speculate over others on ebay :

Most of the people that want to race an KX-1 already consider to buy a full 2nd KX-1 from eBay ... so adding somebody in the middle that buy a KX-1 for resell the single component will just make the price higher !

This forum is supposed for exchange idea on using the KX-1 ... not for allow "smart" guys to profit over other people on this forum !

I guess the production is already stopped since a while !

Still few days ago it was still in the online stock of rcmart.com ... for 199$ ... not a cheap price compared to some sales done in US ...

Just got a 2nd KX-1 from eBay ... in order to be safe for the spare parts.

So far the KX-1 is the unique RC car with central battery ... if just my driving skill were good enough, I would have shown how great is this car in my club ... but so far I'm too much a rookie for make consisten performance ...
