i got a pinion that is on the armature shaft REALLY well. of course, i, being a dumb@ss, stripped the set screw. is there some kind of tool or chemical that will loosen it? i've tried WD40, it didnt work. any ideas? btw, the boat is a Kyosho Jet Stream 800EP. the pinion gear itself is plastic, but the shaft fitting is brass, so im not sure a puller would do the trick. thanks

If the screw is really stripped-out bad, your only recourse might be to use a dremel with a cut-off disc installed to cutoff the gear from the armature. One trick I've used to backout a stripped gear screw is to grind-down a slightly-bigger allen wrench until it fits the worn screw head and then lightly set it in the head of the screw with a hammer, then try to backout the screw.

Hope this helps,
RickE

is there any other way to do it? i dont have a dremel:( (and i really need one), and even if i did, i would most likely screw up the whole operation.

if you were standing in the hallway a few minutes ago, you heard: "Yes! CRAAAAAP!!!!!!" in other word, i got the pinion off, at the cost of a tooth. i kinda got P-Oed at the thing, and pried it off with a screwdriver. guess thats what happens when im ill-equipped.
