you guys got any opinions on what i should get? oh yea, i'm looking for something used thats about 100 bucks w/o radio

I have a Kyosho Wavemaster and I love it. It's a Formula One style tunnel hull. The stock speed is only about 12 mph, but you can always put in a hotter motor and better prop. Or, you can do it like me and go all out:

Hull: Lexan ride plates on the bottom, with 1/8th inch overlap into the inside and rear. ABS angle strips glued to the side/bottoms on the hull as spray rails. 3 layers of 1/16th plywood to reenforce the motor mount. Use some waterproofing tape (pranther is good) on the radiobox to seal it up and wax the bottom of the hull.

Outboard: Use Octura flex and a 3/16 Octura propshaft. Use bearings. No liner for flex shaft! Vasaline as a lube. The motor coupler, flex shaft, and propshaft are all permanently attached to each other (I used waterproof 2ton epoxy, lets see how that works out in the long run... been a year so far). Graupner 2.5:1 gearbox, with a handmade adapter (4mm to 1/8). It looks pretty sweet on there, like it belongs on there. Bearings in the gear box. And a water cooled Astroflight 304 motor. I'm currently running an X637 with 8 cells, but will probebly pick it up to an X640. Speeds are easily around 30 - 35... might be able to hit 40 with some of the newer mods to the outboard.

This is how it ran when I had the 2:1 ratio and a 15 turn speedgems (I think this was on 7 cells, could be 8). I'll get pictures of the boat when I get the paint job finished on it. Handles extremely well and can be very fast.

You can buy it here (at towerhobbies) for $99.99

LOL, cause people don't pay attention to where they're posting. You should check out the message board at www.rumrunnerracing.com My username is the same there too.

I have a Yellow Jacker outrigger hydroplane for sale (it's blue though). It has all the hardware (which was custom made for it). It just needs a motor, flex shaft coupler (attaches the motor to the flex shaft) and radio. I bought it from another boater who says it's fast and handles real well. I just haven't been able to get it into the water myself cause of other projects i've been working on. It would be a good second or third boat.

Hey Frank

Hull: Lexan ride plates on the bottom, with 1/8th inch overlap into the inside and rear. ABS angle strips glued to the side/bottoms on the hull as spray rails.

would you please be able to take a pic or few of the bottom of the hull, as i want to see exactly how to do the spray rails, also do you overlap it into the tunnel to create a sharp edge for good cornering? i have a little idea of what this looks like but im not completely sure

TIA
Kris

Check out this article for hull mods: http://www.rumrunnerracing.com/articles/wavemaster.htm

Mine are pretty much the same.

Just spray rails... you don't need to add anything to the roof, cause it'll be out of the water when the boat is on plane.

Sounds good IHIOIBIBIIT, the Wavemaster is a wonderful first boat.
