Thanks Cory. I probably wouldn't have started this one if you hadn't. Car looks good. I'll know more tonight after some laps at the track. If it drives like the others I have driven, it will be faster than my Mugen was. Already have a 14 tooth clutch bell to put on the Raptor. May end up with a 15 if it's as low geared as they say.

how does it compare with the ofna 9.5 pro?

TalleyRacing
07-17-2002, 09:38 PM
I've yet to see a 9.5 on the track so I can't really say. The car performed very well. I have a few changes to make to it before the next outing, but it feels like a top level car. Definately felt better than my Mugen.

Ive just read a review on this at TWF8. Once build the car looks great and extremely competitive but like shown on the TWF8 review there are alot of faults with the kit that need to be sorted out when building and SVM could sort them out very easily. If I wanted to race 1/8 competively I would definatly look into this kit.

I have a crono, thinks its called the prima. Not sure but the car runs great.Have had a lot of problems with it though mostly up in the front.Probally just because of the way i drive lol,but the arms rip of pretty easily compared to other cars i have had.I changed the alot of the stuff up front to kyosho, and seems to be staying together better. But anyways this is the older crono that the one you guys are talking about, maybe the new one is better.Oh and BTW the instructions that came with car sucked,i mean really really sucked and parts are hard to get a hold of,you have to order everything.Dont know of any hobby shops who stock crono parts arround here anyways. But dont listen to me go get your own,and you will see.

Todd, email me @ spt1978@outdrs.net, and I can give you the phone number of where to get the car from.

Granted, you do have to order the parts for the car, but it's not because it isn't a good car. The current car is a great car. I drove mine for the second time today, and got it dialed in. It really is a sweet car.

JUst wondering have you raced it yet? and if so What parts did you break? and did you have a hard time with the instructions?

TalleyRacing
07-19-2002, 08:37 PM
Tomorrow will be my first race with the car. But I've practiced most of the week. Haven't broken anything. I can tell more tomorrow night. But I don't really think anything will break. The car is tough. I took an MX jump with it last night 3 times. First and second time it landed perfect. 3rd time I hooked a rut when it landed and tumbled for about 30 feet. Didn't bend or break anything. That is usually a good test for a car. Assembly isn't an issue. The instructions are in Italian, but the diagrams are 3D and in color, so it's pretty simple to follow. And Mike notates any needed changes in every manual.

NitroRacer10
07-19-2002, 11:38 PM
manual is nice...and the color CAD pictures are the best I have seen to date!!!!! Talley is right! Buggy is tough! Steve...did you look at that dif case?? Ugly huh!

TalleyRacing
07-20-2002, 12:52 AM
Yep. Pretty nasty. I'm taking a break from getting it ready for tomorrow. Going to put 10k in the center, doubt I touch the front, it's got 3k in it. I had to reshim the diff in the front. It wasn't meshing tightly, and started to slip a tad. Shims tight now though.

The RS01 definately has the most free running drivetrain of any buggy I have owned yet!! The biggest thing is to LOCTITE all the screws, especially the front knuckles!! The car could use better braces, but I made my own and it made it rock solid. The thing to remember is that the europeans race on very flat tracks with grass and rocks, so as we run more in the US on our "monster air" tracks and give feedback to SVM/Crono , they will make mods to the car to make it suit our styles.

Sorry to say guys, but the Air Force is sending me to Korea for a year. I posted my RS01 on Ebay in case anyone is interested. Reserve is at $350, so I'm gona lose my butt on it, but that's the price we pay. On Ebay, it's listed as Crono RS01 lots of extras. I tried to paste the link to it on here, but it won't let me.

the crono cars look just like the ofna's which are manufactured by hong nor and another company so i would imagine that the parts would fit wouldnt they might want to check into it at least.

ronin8451
10-23-2002, 04:03 PM
The Crono RS01 is nothing like an OFNA ! If anything, it's somewhat like it's half sister the EB4 by Thunder Tiger since they were both designed by Franco Sabatini. The quality is much better than the Thunder Chicken though.

Luigis I think you are talking about GG. No we will not do a team crono club. It is more of a re-groupements of track culbs to give special events like a Quebec offroad championship. When we did the championship last SEPTEMBER we had people from Saskatchewan calling us for info.

Munin If you buy a RS01 good for you and even if you buy anything else good for you also has more 1/8 people there is more fun we will have racing.

I am from Gatineau club CRCO.

invest on a good thing

No, I don't have that much money right now.I am buying a MP-6.I should get it in around 10 days.I have some money to buy an engine maybe. The one I am buying has Teflon shocks and that is about it.I am gonna look for a good engine on the internet to buy for it.What do you recommend?I am 14 years old, what about you?Do you go to Le Tambourin for parts etc?

team_luigis
12-10-2002, 11:00 PM
yes,but tambourin have expensif parts, some parts u might get them cheaper at les miniatures chemin chambly longeuil
u can find the phone number and adress in the yellow pages in the section P passe temps..

hmm i have a order that coming in:(
46 spur gear
trinity 1000 nicad pack
mip on-board

i dont know,i feel bad that ur getting a new mp6 for about 800$ when u can get it use for about 400$ whit engine and good stuf whit it

Ho and by the way I am 30.

Yeah man!It will be fun to go racing!Fabien(from tambourin) told me about this place where they race, it's somewhere near Promenades ST. Bruno, I went there once and the track was okay, it could use some work though.

The MP-6 I got was not expensive.I got it for only $240 Canadian money. It comes with Teflon Shocks and servo's and extra wheels/tires.It was a very good deal.I will probably get the Hyper 8 port engine or maybe a used O.S engine.I will get Hitec servo's and hitec radio, the FM one.

from who did u bought the use mp6 from?
if ur getting a os .21gr it wont last long even if its new..

i might be there tomorow, cause i have to go get my parts if they receive the parts..

ps:every buggy come whit aluminium shocks, not because a buggy has aluminium shocks its good,u have to see alot of things before the shocks..

team_luigis

alot of people like the rs01,but some people hate it how its build, cause if u put a mp7.5 next to a rs01 trust me u will like more having a mp7 then a rs01,but apparently rs01 they handle verry well.
exept of the look of the car that people dont like, the rs01 is a verry good buggy!
solid,good traction,handdle well etc..

sorry about the promenades st-bruno
its a good spot to go racing,i mean bashing, people are playing, not races whit trophies or others,
they wanted to do a club, but i dont know what fabien is gonna decide..the only thing its need the track, its to remove the rocks, and add some good dirt..
i never went there, but i heard comments and i saw pics..
the rocks over there scratches ur buggie and it brake parts.

Sweet. Mike Battaile takes RS01's and put his setup in the buggy, like the shock oil, diff oil, and probably camber and maybe even different springs. All he does is take the regular RS01's and puts his setup on them. Anyways, he's Crono's team manager.

pletang
01-20-2003, 07:38 AM
I have the Prima and RS01. I have raced my Prima and finished in position 3 and 4 in the A mains out of 15 racers. The Prima can race against Kyoshos and Mugen.

One thing to remember, it is not the car that makes the racer but the opposite.

RCfun
01-20-2003, 01:10 PM
I know the racer make's the car, but I was thinking that this buggy may not be as durable as the RS01, and that part's would be difficult to get for it. Also, was there any modification's or hop-up's that you had to buy after you purchased the buggy, so it would be more durable or adjustible? But, it seem's like a great buggy if you did that good in the A-main.:)

The a-arms hige pin are the achiles heel of this buggy, they are made of mild steal. The other point is theer is no front kick-up on the frame, I had one made, 8 degrees. Has for adjustement everything his ajustable, toe, camber, etc...

Parts are available for this buggy. I live 3 hours from the North American distr.

Howdy,

I am trying to get back into RC Cars. I used to race 1/10 scale trucks and want to step up to the 1/8 scale buggies. I am really interested in buying a Crono RS 01. Who sales these cars in the USA? How much are they going for?

Thanks, for any help

http://www.therchouse.com sells the RS01, But in all honesty I would not recommend one for your first 1/8, I've just finished building mine and they are not the easiest of kits to put together, Especially to someone not as advanced in the fields of 1/8 Rally-X, I have had a Hyper7 Pro previously and still found the RS01 a struggle, Hopefully its worth it.

Oh, Just in case anyone still checks this forum... Whats the deal with the shocks?! I can't seem to keep air out, They are foamenting like soap when the caps on and they have had a few actuations of the shock.

Fezzy,
Nice looking car. How does it handle on the track compared to the other cars?

The only thing I can really compare it to is my old H7 Pro, The Crono is ALOT faster car, Also it holds a tighter line with more grip without rolling over, The H7 used to understeer and drift out where as the Crono turns in hard and puts plenty of power down, Holds the line without grip rolling.

What's your experience on building one?

Should you fix parts yourself to fit or was the quality perfect all the way ..?

I'm considering to get one but I'm a bit worried of the parts fit although I believe the quality of materials is very good.

Mika, Unfortunately the build quality on the Crono is rather poor, Alot of things need fileing or dremeling. I actually no longer have my Crono as I just could not keep up with the wear on the thing, If you can afford to run one undoubtedly they are the most capable 1/8 Buggy on the market.
