Hello All!
I am working on a six foot model of the Andrea Doria. It is made out of wood. I need to use something to seal the outside. The wood also flexes and it cracks the paint. Is there anything that I could use to make the outside much stronger? Like maybe some sort of resin or something? I also could use any information on the Andrea Doria that anyone could provide. Thank you!:) :)

You could cover the hull's outer surface with fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin, and this should prevent cracking. Another covering material you could use is called "silkspan," a thin tissue-like cloth that's used on R/C aircraft and is available through most hobby shops.

For 'liner info, try typing-in "The Mother of all Nautical Websites," I've found countless help on all types of ships via this 'site.

Hope this helps,
