Greetings! I've been reading here for a few weeks and finally registered!
Does anybody have any experience with Kyosho's Jet Stream 1000? (with the big .32 pull-start):D
I've had my eye on it for a while, but can't find much info on it. Anything would be appreciated, and if I get it, I'll post a full report with pics for anyone else who might be interested.
Thank you.

The 1K is a great boat for just messin' around.
+'s : 42" hull
A most reliable .32 puller
Great parts access
-'s : hull WILL crack around engine mount holes
The break away strut will leave the boat stranded if it hits a stick or other debris
radio box is not water tight
Thin ABS hull
If you what a hobby level boat and can spend the money, stay with a fiberglass hull.

EEEEK-GADDDD!!!!
And I was just about to order one today!! Crap!!
I just want a new nitro boat that is faster than my old one. (JetStream GP10)
Are these problems from experience, or from someone you know? Can the motor mount be reinforced with anything? I understand that the strut can break... but... is the hull all that thin? MAN!!! I knew it was too good to be true. I guess I'll have to shop for another boat. Thoughts?
Traxxas Nitro V: I like that it has a clutch and RTS system. I wish more boats had a clutch... reduces stalling. I might just get this one. I've seen the video from this site, and rcboatmodeler.com , and it looks nice.
Kyosho Viper GP: people have said it's fast, and got a positive review. This is the least expensive at $180 right now.
Kyosho Air Streak 500: Claims to be very fast and has spring loaded flip-up rudder. Simple in-line runnig hardware.
Kyosho Blue Streak 800: Someone here has one... is it you? 270cc fuel tank, steerable outdrive, looks very nice.
And I came across a fiberglass RTR nitro hydroplane made by PROBOAT. It come fully assembled w/JR Pythin radio, 0.15 Dynamite pull start engine, tuned pipe, does over 30MPH: all for 299.99. But I can't find it anymore.... does anyone have a link?
My boat budget is $300, and I was also planning on getting a new 2PEKA radio.
Thank you for the warning... thoughts?... I'll post what I order, and do a review on it for you all. Pics too.

Hey Mo the JS 800 is a great boat. Try dumping a .15 ,.16 or a .21 engine it. Also, use a small piece of 3/16" brass tubing as a sleeve and install a Prather 220 prop. You will be impressed.
If you drop in a .21, it will no longer be a FUN boat. It will become a missle and require a safe place to run.
I have a buddy who had the 1000. I now have the engine and sold the hull for him.
The JS 800 has the thickest ABS hull around and can take a beating.
I bought the electric JS 800 and put an .18 in it with the 220 prop. It's great for the lake or park. Been running it hard for about 4 years now.

Well, since the 1000 seems kinda thin for $300, I have decided to get that new Air Streak 500, because tower told me that the Viper GT will be discontinued..(viper was my other choice)
My old 800 GP has the .10... the motor's fine, but the hull is getting weak, yellowish.. not sure if it can handle a new motor!!

Nitro fuel eats ABS never buy a nitro ABS boat.

You can get an ABS nitro boat to live longer by painting it with a good fuelproof paint like Lustercoat or Coverite, but it must be done on a new hull to prevent the fuel from soaking into the plastic.

I got a new kyosho air streak 500. Still in box, but anyway, I bought that boat because it looks like it should be fast.. .16 engine and surface prop. I plan on painting the inside to fuel-proof it. Tower said that Krylon will work. Can I get Lustercoat or Coverite at the hardware store??

If they say use Krylon, give it a try and after it cures a few days throw a few coats of wax on it-it might protect it even more from the fuel. You'd have to hit a hobby shop for either the Coverite or Lustercoat, plus Tower sells them as well.

Great! Thanks for the info. I already have some Krylon; think I'll do a few nitro tests with krylon before spraying the hull. I'll let ya know if it melts.

Hi the jet stream 1000 is not a good boat i purchased one for my son it leaks every where and no amount of repairs seem to fix it. as for parts i have been looking for a pull start for over a month. Getting the boat back when it did run for all of 10 secs was almost impossible, and we had to buy a battery boat to push it back to us.
Nitro vee i also have one of these and the trouble i have found is the cylinder head came loose while on the water, overheats prop is not really very good. and servos can get wet very easy.the engine took alot of setting up,the ez-start system gave a little trouble and needed a new bearing and motor. but the good thing is rts system all of the problems i had are now sorted with putting upgrades on the boat, 1:Brass prop 2:Larger water pick up 3:Silicon spray on servos 4:Engine rebuild 5:please bear in mind all this went on while the engine still had not used a full tank of fuel.
