Right now I am really involed with RC cars, but I've always thought RC boats were really cool.
At my LHS (Rc sports and hobbies in Woodbridge Ontario) that specializes in RC boats of all scales, from little things to huge 6 feet long fiberglass things I saw some of their boats with Whippersnipper motors in them from John Deer and Toro.

MY dad wants to get rid of his Toro whippersnipper and I'm trying to convince him not to sell it and let me use the motor to build a RC boat for my aunts new cottage. MY Dad thinks that it will be too expensive to buy a new hull and all the electronics but I'm still working on him.

Anyways, lets say that I get the motor, its in OK condition, and its the right kind to go into a boat. Just ball park, how much will a hull, raido gear, and the other boat essentials cost me to get this thing on the water, either all new parts or all used? The boats at my LHS with these motors mostly have less than 3 feet long wood hulls so i'm thinking that thats what I will need.

If any of you boat guys could help me out that would be great and if you need more specs about the motor i could get it.

Thanks a lot,
Michael Longarini.

A good site to view for info and questions on gasboats is Jim's R/C Boat Dock, which has been around since 1979. Another good source for trimmer engine workings is Warehouse Hobbies who have been converting Homelites for years, they might be easier to find under their Enforcer Boats website.

Hope this helps,
RickE

I made a mistake, its not a Toro, it is a Homelite.
RickE, do you have the links to those web-sites?

Thanks again.

Warehouse Hobbies has been updating Homelites for gasboat use for a very long time, so their site or just giving them a call via their service line is the best bet. Very nice people, they build their own hulls, hardware, etc., and know Homelites inside-out. www.whobbies.com (click on Enforcer Boats), 1-863-699-1231 for the tech line.
