View Full Version : Geez, E-Maxx or TXT-1 ????

This has been a question ripping back in fourth through my mind.
I just can't friggin decide which one i would rather own! I like speed but i like torque. I like awesome suspension and aluminum chassis, but i also like the absolut HUGE variety of E-Maxx parts available. I just cannot decide. I can afford either one. My list for stuff to get for the TXT-1 is as follows;
1) TXT-1 $369.99
2) Futaba 2PH Radio w/servo (lowest priced radio i could find)
$43.99
3) Juggernaut Bearing Set $44.99
I still need to find Tire Glue and a HIGH power, low priced
steering servo(one from Cirius or whatever there called)
Truck,Radio,Bearing; TOTAL $458.97
thats OK, but i draw the line at $550
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Traxxas E-Maxx RTR
1) 2 good stick packs
2) a 2nd charger (charge packs in half the time) I already have 1
charger.
3) Tire Glue
Costs a fairly good amount less than TXT-1, but doesn't have the awesome brute, stump pulling torque (not to mention scale realism) of the TXT-1
any input ?

Actually, the E-Maxx is known for its extreme torque. It has enough to easily flip it on its lid when you give full throttle.
What are you going to be doing? Alot of crawling and climbing? If so, the TXT-1 is what you want. If you're going to do some climbing but alot of jumping and you want a fast truck, go for the E-Maxx.

To tell the truth, when i look around, i have a fair share of stuff worthy of a TXT and an E-Maxx. I also still have thoughts of a custom crawler. I fi could figure those plans out i would buy an E-Maxx and build a crawler later...........
I'm not to big into jumping.....all my plywood is ruined anyways:(

Don't be mislead by some of the opinions you see on this board. For some reason, the MAXXs gets an unfair rap on this bulletin board in my opinion. I blame Jeepinator and his "anti-Traxxas" campaign for that. You hear that Jeep? :)
Unfortunate. I use your post as a prime example of how those judgments steer people like you away from a quality monster truck. Back in the day, Associated and the RC10 used to get the same type of bad rap. People were unfortunately persuaded away from Associated and got other kits. I was one of them.
Get the EMAXX dude. You won't regret it. It does have all the pulling force and performance you are looking for. And you can't beat the price. Its NOT a case of "you get what you pay for".

Things being said about the E-Maxx have not discouraged me at all. I dropped by www.maxxtraxx.com and saw some BEAUTIFUL silver aluminum emaxxes, and they took my breath away. Still not 100% on descion though, but the E-Maxx is pulling away with with the lead. Included is the picture that threw me towards the emaxx like a tater' out a tater' gun. So beautiful *drooling*
It may cost a lot to get an emaxx lokkin like that, but OH MY, its worth it.

Peterbuilt....... I won't try to sway you either way..(you appear to be able to make up your own mind anyway). I have both trucks... I bought the TXT-1 first and my wife saw an E-Maxx and made me buy it. Now, I wish she had never seen it.
I can go out with a 2400 stick pack and bash around for about 25 minutes with the TXT-1 change it out and go for another 25 minutes of crawling, now breakage ... no glitches.... not aftermarket stuff ('cept bearings).
The E-Maxx, is constantly laid up for repairs. Maybe its because it is faster, therefore more likely to run into stuff. But I still regret buying it. I've put a complete Dynamite aluminium suspension on it as well as a complete set of aluminium shocks so I'm into this darned thing for about $1K CDN. Its a ton of fun to drive when its running but its like having another woman in your life.....very high maintenance!!!!
Good luck on your choice....whatever it is.

GET BOTH!
http://www.jps.net/~hairball/kids.jpg
I've had the TXT-1 for quite some time, and have had the E-Maxx for about two months. I now have TWO TXT-1s (a third under construction) and I'm thinking about a T-Maxx.
They are VERY different trucks in design and purpose. Want to go fast and jump? E-Maxx?
Want a scale apperance truck and go rock climbing / crawing? TXT-1.
You won't be dissappointed with either truck, just make sure you know what you want it for before you spend the cash, because even thought the E-Maxx is cheaper, neither truck is a cheap investmant.

Well Hairball, i might own both within about 1.5 years. It looks as if i MIGHT buy the E-Maxx this year(recieve it as a Christmas gift)
and maybe get a TXT-1 for next Christmas. I just don't have the money to get both at one time:( I figure the terrain here isn't tough enough for a TXT's full potential (unless i break up a whole lot of cinder blocks) and the E-Maxx has enough torque to get a fair share of climbing and speed. I should have my mind made up within a few days. I'll let yall know which one i choose.;) ;)

Grant may be exaggerating the anti Traxxas sentiment here. Maybe just a smidge? I am anti Traxxas for a darn good reason. I don't want to go into it here. Just visit http://www.traxxassucks.com and read for yourself.
Whatever way you go, you'll have fun. Both trucks are worthy of their popularity. They are, however, radically different trucks. It's not really a matter of what truck you want, it's more a matter of what you want in an RC kit. What are you into?
Just to add some photoballance (a new word!):

I'd get the E_maxx, like 99% of the people here say to, I Own a T-Maxx myself, but is to lazy to switch screen names, and about Jeeps Anti-Traxxas movement, I agree with you in some degree, Traxxas Is no Losi or AE, so don't Judge them by that, you don't see them busted out RtRs 24/7

Hehe, anti traxxas "movement" :D
Has it even made it to that level?
As I have said in other threads, I think Traxxas' product vision is off-the-scale good. Execution sucks ass though.
They need to bust out of the toy market and produce RC kits.
Contrary to popular belief, good customer service is NOT just giving away free stuff, as so many have claimed on these threads. "I sent in my X and they sent me a NEW X !!!" is just about the only good thing I hear about them. Just FYI, they do this simply because it is CHEAPER for them to do so. Nope, good customer service is responding to each complaint, each situtation, each challenge with a unique, tailored solution. When I sent in my EVX with a long, well written document explaining my problem in detail, I expected far more than a standard issue $25 "rewire fee". The damn controller was BAD OUT OF THE BOX. Do they believe me? Nope. Do they offer ANY flexibility? Nope. Am I just another sheep at the rendering plant? Yep.
Further, they attempted (and partially succeeded) to cover up the entire incident.
That, my Traxxas groupies, is NOT good customer service. I don't care how you look at it.

I consider it extreme when someone goes and purchases a domain name to make a point. hahaha. Man, I knew you had some problems with their customer service, didn't know you went that far. I also thought my post was exagerrating a bit, but after seeing the extent of your actions, I realize now I was actually understating. I've now upgraded your intentions from a "campaign" to a "crusade". I read your postings in that Traxxas boad. Excellent responses.
Off topic.
I bought a Jeep CD deck to install in my Toyota. That damn radio never worked when I hooked it up. I've been installing my own car stereos for 10 years. And Jeep REFUSED to advance me another deck while they repaired mine. They also charged me a $25 repacking fee (those bastards) cause I cut the wires. And it took them weeks to replace the broken guts and return my tainted radio back to me. Jeep has horrible customer service, even though they replaced my friend's squeaky seats for free. Oh, and on a side note, Jeep needs to stop building weak, overpriced consumer models and build real off-roaders like Hummers that can submerge under water. Jeep sucks ass. Great product, but they suck in general.
Peterbilt,
Ignore our petty debates and have fun with your vehicle, whatever you decide to get. :)

Was it really worth the $30/month to get back at traxxas even though the esc cost $115 lol. and how in the hell did it get 12,000 views?!

Well, I am a web nerd and money is not that big of a deal. The entire cost was 20 bucks and about an hour of my time on the website. Not really that big of a deal, eh?
I like "crusade". What would be above that though? :D

Obviously not a rational parallel. I could spend hours delineating the differences between my real occurance and your fictitious scenario, but it would not benefit my crusade much, so I'll steer clear. Besides, it is gloabally known that Jeep has crappy service anyway.

Jihad....
Obviously not a rational parallel.
Yup. My parallel is not rational. But since they DO parallel, what does that mean to your scenario? If Scenario A = Scenario B, and Scenario B is irrational, then Scenario A is ....... I'll let you do the math. :)
I finally installed my fixed Jeep CD deck. The deck is actually an Alpine deck. Jeep subcontracted Alpine to build the deck, and Jeep just sells them, and takes care of the warrenty work. You know what? The deck is horrible!! My disks keep skipping. Jeep sucks even more. I'm gonna ditch that deck and buy an Alpine instead....... I'll never buy another Jeep brand vehicle again. :)
Feel free to attempt to delineate against your cause.
Glad you're enjoying the debates Peterbilt. I guess I'm taking the role of anti-crusader. Once Jeepinnator starts sending rc suicide MAXXs into the belly of the Traxxas infidel, I'll have to hire people and create my anti-terrorist division... along with website
to explain our cause.

So what your saying is, you bought an Alpine with a Jeep sticker on it and it sucked, so now your going to buy an Alpine with an Alpine sticker and think it will be better? I didn't know stickers affected performance that much.

This is all very confusing.
I would be happy to discuss, debate, etc the real scenario and the facts of the situation. I am not, however, willing to waste my time arguing about a fictitious story, or how it may or may not parallel the real one.
Read the threads on the website, read my response on this thread, and read whatever else you want and tear my actions down based upon what actually happened. This entire thing with the symbolism and whatnot is silly.
I would like to thank you for raising public awareness regarding this issue. Even if I am made to look like a fool during subsequent discussion, I still win. Like they say in hollywood, any press is good press.

He don't wanna play no more... :(
I finally read all the threads on your www.traxxassucks.com. Helping raising public awareness once again for your cause. I'm up to speed. Unfortunate chain of events. They sure did mess with the wrong guy. However, I still believe my scenario, while fiction, does parallel closely to your actions. The attempt was to put you in the other person's shoes. Mine. But nuff with that scenario since its "silly". :)
To me, the moral of the story is "never trust a warranty". I hate warranties. Its Hyundai's #1 selling point. Warranties were invented by lawyers. Ummm. Hope I didn't start another third party war with that...... I personally never trust any warranty, and feel warranties and the rc hobby were never meant to mingle. Your scenario is a prime example of its damage. I do agree that a broken item out of the box is unacceptable and should be remedied. If the Traxxas warranty program never existed, perhaps you COULD have received a direct replacement from Horizon or Traxxas because Traxxas wouldn't be spending all their time and dollars on "cry wolf" calls. They cater to the guy with the non-broken one-way bearing, and they leave people like you hanging. Remember the dude with the Losi XX and no spare parts? Losi goes and sends him a new XXX. Thats service.
Can't really tell if your actions are like a temper tantrum or like William Wallace (Braveheart). Good luck on your crusade my friend.

dude, last week i was in your same situation. But 2 major things made the desision for me on what to blow my wad on.
1. I own a Traxxas Stamped and a Tamyia Wild Dagger. Both trucks are in the same class except for one being 2wd and the other 4wd. My traxxas was more fun to drive than my WD but it was always braking. And most of my time was spent wrenching rather than out having fun. My WD is unbreakable. The only reason i havent been running it is because i losed a drive shaft and i got a HPI rush and i ripped my radio out of it for my rush. My WD always worked and no matter what i did to it, it would not stop running. I even drove it off my fricken roof and absolutly nothing. Tamyia definatly has much better quality and durablilty than traxxas does.
2. I went to one of my local hobby shops and saw the trucks side by side. I looked at them both closly and my decision was made.(also there was a guy at my lhs talking about how his T-maxx kept on braking)
So yesterday i orded my TXT-1 and it should be here next thursday or friday. Cant wait to get it since my rush has been down for a while and it will be nice having a reliable electric to run.
Hope this helps make your desision a little easier. And Traxxas vehicles arent really bad i just prefer other brands over them.(trying to make my opinion non biased  )
