I recently got one of these little cars off a guy, and have been looking to make a little bit faster and better. I have seen that they are not supposed to take hop-ups, but is there anyway that I can upgrade this thing? It is pretty nice, but just not fast enough for me.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

I am pretty sure the TL01 qd is like a dash and can only have replacment parts but not upgrades.

That's what I was afaraid of...I have also found some other info on these saying the same.
Are these anywhere close to being like the other electric rally cars? Is it worth taking to the track? or will I just get laughed at?

ya you'll get laughed at. And BEATEN! Those cars aint worth crap, also the HPI dash. the only good thing about the dash is the body and wheels

Here's my quick drive Jeep. Little modified. I have never ran it. I just bought the axles and body off of Ebay and built this chassis.
If nothing else it looks cool

You sound hungry.. But yes, it is VERY strong. I intend on making a lot of stuff from this material. Good Stuff and readily available.:D

Are you an engineer? I like to see people you build their own custom cars instead of just buying bolt-ons, its more original this way.:)

Electrical Engineer, but that really has nothing to do with building the chassis. Anyone can do it as long as they can picture it in their head.
It comes down to a lot of trial and error until you get it right.
Since I was a kid I have like building all my own stuff and midifying all my R/C's. I always like the folks that modified their own stuff too. It takes a lot more talent to build your own parts instead of buying them. AND it also cost less most of the time.:D

That's cool, I wish I had a c&c lathe, I would be machining parts all day long!:D I love alluminum, I'm actually working on my Tamiya tt01, making a top brace out of alluminum, and making a drive shaft out of hollow alluminum alloy to replace the stock plastic one. Maybe I could sneak into the high school and use the machine tools to make some alluminum shocks.:D
