If you're talking about a hull/engine combo the only one that comes to mind is the O/B one putout by Thunder Tiger and you can check it out on the Ace Hobbies website. As for hulls, Aeromarine Laminates has both a 3.5 and 7.5 outboard tunnel hull in their catalog at www.aeromarinerc.com. Both Dumas and Prather have tunnel hulls as well, but the 3.5 wooden kit by Dumas is the most popular one in that O/B range. If you wanted plans only for both a 3.5 and 7.5 wooden tunnel, Jerry Dunlap has them through the R/C Boat Modeler Magazine/AirAge website.

Please tell us if you are talking hull only or hull and motor. The Thunder Tiger and Prather hulls are both outdated designs. I had a DPI 3.5 tunnel boat that I was very happy with. I have a Dumas Hot Shot in my basement that belongs to a friend with an older K&B motor and Futaba radio very reasonably priced includes a starter and some extra parts.

I may have a picture of it that my brother-in-law took at a race 2 weeks ago. I called the guy and got his answering machine, so i'm waiting for him to call me back. E-mail me at owetpaint@aol.com and I will send you the shot. It's too big to fit in here.

Aereo marine makes great hulls but I think they are out of your price range, I can be wrong. Remember that the hull is the single most important thing when it comes to boats. Do you plan to race the boat or just for play ?

Just play

The boat is officially for sale. Asking price is $250.00 OBO with shipping shipped in the 48. Included is a Futaba radio with your choice of a stick radio or a Magnum Sport wheel radio. Also has a starter, extra flex cable and drive dog. Needs batteries for the system but other than that pretty much RTR. Extra new cowling also goes with it. E-mail me at owetpaint@aol.com for more info. The picture is too big to post.

The hull is kind of outdated. When you need trim tabs and a turn fin on it, that should be a clue that they tried to compensate for poor handling, I've yet to see one at a race but I do know a guy that has 2 of them. The carb on the engine is a pain to set up and get running properly. The Dumas in my basement is in the for sale area now.

Ron, i was just looking for a fun boat. (not going to race it) there was a guy at the local pond and it seemed to work great. i just asked to see what other people thought of the boat. i just recently built a electric boat of my own design and it is a great boat. it cavtates some times in corners because of the relativly flat botom. it acts just like jet ski in the water. it slides and spins 180s fast. its a crowd pleaser.

Good luck finding one right now. The 2 Hobby Shops near me each had 6 and sold out immediately! More are on order but it's going to take them 4 weeks to get more. This has got to be the hottest boat probably ever! There are some on eBay but they are going for rediculous prices. I'm going to see one run on Saturday, a local boater called and asked me for some help as this is his first nitro boat.

Hey Did you see the boat run? Does it run good? What are the ups and downs?
Thanks

The guy got called into work yesterday so we didn't get a chance to run it. He had it out Friday night for a little while to get the engine broken in and said that it looks like it has potential. Hopefully we will have it out tomorrow or Tuesday night. I'll try to get as much information as possible back to you including the decibel readings. He was really impressed with the quality of the workmanship on it, especially the hull.

Did ya ever get it?

The guy took it out last Monday night. Sorry for the slow response. He was still breaking it in so we didn't get any full speed runs on it but it does look to have potential. We had to give it a good heave to get it up on plane and you have to maintain good speed to keep it there. Once it falls off it is a bear to get it back on plane, it wants to cavitate badly. A different prop should make a difference once we find out which one will do the trick. It ran at a quiet 78 dB using IMPBA settings on my meter. Minor improvements that I would do down the road would be to change props of course, sharpen the turn fin and rudder, possibly make the rear wing adjustable (easily do-able) and try to get some weight off the back. Opening of the stinger on the pipe may help also. Convert the switch to a Du-Bro style to keep it out of the elements. The allen screw holding the prop shaft in is a little tough to get at, a long ball-driver should take care of that.

Mine is all broke in and the dyn motor is going in the trash! That motor doesn"t have enough power in a car or truck I don"t know why they put it in a boat!
