hey, i just got a GM power charger which can charge from 0.5 to 6.5 amps. i wanted to know what amps i should be charging certain battery packs at....

1. radioshack 2200mAh ni-mh packs (old, about 200+ runs on em)
2. amp maxII 1500mAh nicads, about 50 runs old
3. and i am about to get into on-road electric racing and i will soon get some nice packs. what should i charge matched nicads and ni-mh's at if i plan to race them?

also, how effective is a 4 amp discharge? should i get a 20 amp discharger if i will be racing the packs?

thanks

Well, I've been charging my packs at 5 amps for many years(since I got into racing over 13 years ago) & I've been quite happy with that. But for a discharge, 4 amps could take a LONG time to dump a pack, so I'd really recommend a 20 amp one....:)

is 5 amps good for ni-mh's though? i heard you shouldn't charge em over 3.5....but you're the veteran here, so you tell me:D
