I have been flying a Avistar .40 for a year now... I can pretty much fly the Avistar to it's limits... I have been flying a Cap 232 on my RealFlight G2 computer and I am asking am I ready to make that jump? If not to Cap 232 than to what? Thanks......

Hi Joey,
Do you have someone available to help that has time on a hot taldragger? Once you get it in the air and trimmed, it is a smooth machine. Making the transition to a taildragger, and a hot one at that can keep you real busy for the first few flights. The new takeoff and landing techniques will be the largest difference. Spend time with the Avistat landing like a taildragger with the nosewheel held off the ground, and you will be much farther along when you transition.
Regards, Dave
WoooHoooo, I say go for it:)

Go ahead, but remember it is different.
I had a CAP 232 (the well known tippy kyosho one) about 7 months after solo, and I found it no problem.
If you're unsure on takeoff and landing, just buy a pre-bent undercrriage and mount it on yoru avistar, between the negine and wing Leading edge, add a tailwheel, and you can practise for real.
The CAPs takeoff run is very straight and effortless anyway, it's little to worry about.

May be ......dependly of a lot of thing . your avistar I think is a trainer w wing on the top and flat bottom wing ?
you thinking fly w ease the avistar so that good but the CAP is an advance aerobatic plane and it will not leave chances comparatively has your avistar.
Its possible you can fly this plane but be very serious in all your preparations, make simulation with Real Flight and put wind , cross wind and try another plane then cap but something like it Extra 300, Edge 540,Extra 330
If you able $$$ to have minimum 25% scale CAP go for it because the bigest plane flying better then small one (much easy) (much visible)
me my second plane is a little low wing Super sporster w OS 70 4 strokes Excellent plane for second one
and third Extra 300 Goldberg is a Bigest step from my Sportster
When I first started in this hobby, I followed the steps in flight. Flew all the maneuvers in perfection with my trainer ( Piper Cub), when I mastered them. I then step up to another level craft.
You are ready for the CAP, fly her nice and slow when you get familiar with her, then fly her like she's never flown before.
. Be adventurous, reserve little fear, pay attention and always have tons of fun than anyone in the field, if you crash, brush it off. Don't blame anybody but yourself....
Go ahead with the cap. and have fun:)

Hi Joey!
that is where the fun in our hobby comes from. The most exciting moments I have ever had as a modeler were on taking off a new, more advanced plane. You can't miss it! Even though you might feel like the CAP 232 stays at the limit of your piloting skills, the plane itself will automatically upgrade your thumbs. Just take the usual precaution not to crash it on the first flight session. Talk to one of your buddies who has got another CAP 232 and make sure that center of gravity and the control surface settings are correct. That's it.
Go for it and have fun!
