View Full Version : smallest possible glider with standard RC-gear

I received a Sanwa 2-channel RC set as a gift and want to build a glider around it. This set does have 2 servos of 45 grams, a receiver of about 35 grams and a four AA-battery box, so the total gear weighs about 220 grams. When I use AAA bateries I can save about 50 grams.
What is the smallest glider to build with this gear? I am looking at having fun, flying from small hills and using rope start. Long thermal flights are not what I'm looking for.
I am planning on scratch building, I like it that way and I'm on a tight budget. I have experience in building free flight gliders and rubber models.

I am thinking of a glider with a wingspan of 40" and a chord of about 8 inch and want to give it a WW-I monoplane look. A bit like a park-flyer without a engine.

Can anyone give me some hints and/or directions?

Looking forward to your responses
