I currently have a Prather lap cat 1 tunnel hull boat and I am about to give up on it. I spend more time retrieving the thing than I do driving it. A duck could fart on the pond and it will blow over. My next boat is going to be a sport 40 hydro. It is a toss up between the Aeromarine bud style or the A.C. model boat sport 40. I like the look of the A.C. boat better, but I would like to know how it performs. I don't want another pain in the butt boat like the lap cat 1. If anyone knows, please give me some info.

The AC Sport 40 boat is a very good runner. Another one at the top of my list is made by Phil Thomas at R/C Marine Designs. If you need Phil's new web site, let me know.

Thank you for the information. I wanted to be sure I would be getting my money's worth when I purchase this boat. Another question I would like to ask is about an engine. I was going to use OPS, but if you have any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. I would like to have the fastest motor I can get without tweaking it. I'd like the motor to last as long as possible. I will be buying the boat within a couple of weeks, but I would like to buy everything in one shot. Thanks again.

The MAC engine is one of the best going right now. I am running a Russian K-45 myself and I have a brand new, never fired or mounted OPS if you decide to go that route.
If you are undecided on hardware, you mght want to give a good look at Speedmaster.

Hello again. Sorry I haven't replied sooner. My grandfather broke his hip the other day and they have to do a triple bypass on his heart so he's strong enough for physical therapy. Anyway, I wasn' sure if you wanted to sell the OPS or for what price. I saw an ad for aeoromarine and they had one with the header and tuned pipe for $245 or close to it. I'm not sure of the performance difference between the MAC and OPS. I wish we were closer, I'd like to meet you. I appreciate all your help and time. Maybe if there is a race near here we can meet. I know they hold two events a year at a lake that is 15 minutes from my house. I have to make sure my girlfriend won't kick my butt for spending the money. If not I will be making my purchase very soon. If you know, can you give me an estimate of what it will cost for the A.C. boat, motor, good hardware, and a steering servo. Thanks again for all your help.
Mike

Realistically, you're looking to empty your walllet and savings account of $800.00-1,000.00. A good hull is going to be around $300.00, engine about the same if not more, hardware about $175.00, servo, around $40.00 for a Hi-Tec ( my favorite rudder servo), pipe if it doesn't come with your engine, paint, odds and ends will easily put you up there.
Glad to hear your grandfather is doing well, I've already had 2 heart attacks and know that they are no fun.
Don't let your girlfriend see this posting! My receipts always seem to disappear somewhere between the Hobby Shop and my home. My wife had a fit when she looked at my checkbook and saw a few big checks that I sent to Gary Preusse!
Call or e-mail Remy at Aeromarine to get a package price if you want to go through him. I bought a hull and hardware from him last year and have talked to him at the Toledo show, one heck of a nice guy to talk to and do business with.
OK, the MAC is definitely the motor to run although I would like to unload the OPS.

Oops, one more thing. If you decide to go the AC route, get hold of Brian Watts at www.rocketcityracing.com right there in Florida. He has package deals and is the largest AC dealer in the US. You can mention my name to him if you want to, I talk to him in chat rooms quite often.

sorry I have not been in touch. My girlfriend and I bought a house so I had to wait a while before getting the boat. She did however get it for me for christmas and it should be here wednsday. I purchased an ops .45 drum version motor. The only thing is it came in 3 pieces and i dont have any instructions to put it together. Do you have a manual or know where I can find one online?
