ok... i have an rs4 Nmt, and i (stupidly) let a friend drive it, who then proceeded to crash it at full speed into a good sized rock. This resulted in the breakage one of the front A-arm-things (and it bent the pin that attatches it). I managed to straighten it out, and rig up a temporary fix, but now its time to buy a new one.

Ok, now my question... is it worth putting up the 25 bucks for the aluminum A-arms?? I dunno if i actually need the increased strength (i don't plan on running it into any more rocks...) but if this is a common place for breakage-which i assume it is... its exposed-then maybe i should go for the heavier stuff. Also... do any of the graphite parts from kits like the RC10 or XXX-NT fit? Those should be lighter than the alum.. and aren't they cheaper?

thanks

Apoc, You've christened your NMT! Congratulations!. Unfortuneatly the front suspension arms are the weakest part on the truck and break very easily, i broke my front left the first time at like 3 mph!. Here comes the bad bit.... Don't waste your money on the aluminum arms, they're probably worse than the stock plastic ones but for different reasons, they will bend instead of break and transfer the shock somewhere else more crucial and if you don't bend them eventually the hinge pins will rub the inside of the metal and turn the hole into a lovely oval shape. What i would suggest to you is buy some new plastic ones and boil them in water for 10-15 minutes, this softens the plastic and allows them to flex more in a impact before they break.

haha cool, thanks!
what about the carbon graphite arms?
also the hinge pin is all bent outta shape now so i need new ones. i checked out the hpi parts list...
its strange

the stainless st. hinge pin set is 18.00
but the stainless st. hinge pin set w/aluminum rear arm brace is 16.00!!

interesting isn't it...?

also, did you add any upgrades to yours that you reccomend? how do you like your kit? I can't wait to get it running again!

I love my NMT but i've moved onto 1/8 MT's Now, it is a great handling truck. As far as upgrades that i've done and would recommend, easily i recommend a new pipe/header, i bought a purple anodised team associated pipe and it made SUCH a difference to the 15fe, i highly recommend it.

cool! any specific one? (or is there only one...) (pipe/header)
i've decided to try a buggy for my next car... i'm looking at either a xx4 or maybe waiting for the xxx4... but i think i might just take a xx-4 WE as it has so many upgrades already...

talk about fast responses!
