Posts and photos at traxxas.com forum, apparently started shipping last friday (despite the claimed Sept 7 release). Most of the new owners got them at LHSs in Texas. Tower sales reps are no help, I'm expecting a long wait due to the large number of backorders.

The new Maxx is actually for my 12 year old son, NPK's younger brother, who is selling his Associated stadium truck which along with his saved allowance will pay for about 2/3 the cost of the Maxx. My wife isn't happy with the $$$$ we spend on our hobby but she's happy that we have fun together. I raced my MP for the first time last weekend, NPK raced his 1/8 buggy also. We both were out with mechanical problems after the second heat but we had alot of fun.
NPK's dad p.s. wish I had a vette instead of a mini van!!!

They are shipping Sept. 7. The only reason their are pictures, because the Moderators got theirs early. My LHS is recieving them the 10th.

12 years sound a little young for a t-maxx tho.

you need to know who they work to really enjoy them.

thats why a lot of people
think its just a toy or a waist of money.
they dont know the workings of them and how much is involved to our cars.

its like a old person talking about a computer and e-mail, they are confused by it.

Sorry to disagree, but if you go to traxxas.com and read a little deeper into the forums one of the traxxas employees (not one of the moderators) said they started shipping last Friday and one guy bought 2 of the 4 that a hobby store in Houston received. All four in that store were sold in one afternoon. Since Traxxas is located in Texas, some of the local stores got their shipments sooner. There are several posts from new owners asking the moderators for help so clearly they are arriving in limited quantities. I just got off the phone with Tower and the gal asked her supervisor (at my request) where I was on the waiting list. I'm sad to say that 2/3 's of the people on the list are ahead of me. I pre-ordered about 10 days ago but she said some people had ordered in June and July, although I didn't think the new Maxx had even been announced that long ago. Oh well, could be a long wait.

And Rusty, my son has driven my .21 powered MP like a pro and NPK built a Ofna Worlds 2 KIT (about 400 parts, 1/8 scale buggy) by himself at age 13 and drives it very well. Kinwald was about 14 when he started winning championships. Not every kid sits at the computer or playstation 8 hours a day. I've seen 10 year olds fly RC planes extremely well. As long as he drives the new Maxx in open fields and at the track or ball diamond instead of the street he will be fine.

Blah. We're recieving them the 10th. :( There's a 12 year old here who races 2WD Electric Stock Truck, and he can easily get 1st place in the A-Main. Also, there's a 13-14 year old who races 2WD Gas Truck, and he's one of the best drivers out here .. It's never too young to start.

We have ages from about 8 years old to around 50 years old that race here. Some drive well, while others can drive worth a diddly squat. :)

No problem Rusty, while my guys are pretty good at driving now, NPK put his first nitro (Traxxas Nitro Sport) into a big oak tree at full throttle because he forgot to put his transmitter antenna up. He was showing off at his Boy Scout meeting, but at least he won't make that mistake twice. New Tmaxx versus a large fixed object would definately be ugly.

Geez, and I thought my son was too young for anything more than a Mad Bull! He's five now and I was thinking of getting him the new 'Maxx for XMas so that we both will have T-Maxxes to drive (I have an old one that I've hopped up a little).

man you guys must make gobs of money.

me and my dad have to share our r/c

last x-mas we got an e-maxx and was pretty much our presents.

I wish we both could get a r/cs on x-mas day but we will have to wait until we win the lottery before that happens.
