Ok, first one to start off this thread:

The V-one R and V-one RR belts have different part numbers and are listed as seperate items at Tower Hobbies, with the RR belts of course being more expensive and apparently differently sized.

Has anyone run standard R belts in their RR? I assumed these cars had identical drivetrains and therefore would be able to share belts.

There's already a V-One R topic.

The middle belts are different between the two cars because the RR uses an overdrive front pulley (it's the front pulley on the side belt, 24T instead of the normal 27T). The rest of the belts are interchangeable, though I haven't cross referenced them to see if they have the same part numbers or not.

Ponky, was the instruction manual really good or was it weak? How is the support for parts and hop ups?:D

it depends, i'm only 13, i finished the car in about 2 nights, about, 10 hours, probably alot less, but i dont wanna underestimate, anyhow, the directons are great, the only thing u have to watch out for is.................NOTHING! lol
jk, i suggest u get the v one r or rr, they're both great cars
for the hop up support, ever heard of kawahara? lol
anyhow, there's lots of hop up support, the only thing i would be slightly worried about is the parts availability, even though u shouldn't be breaking parts due to the fact that the V One R/R
is extremely durable
peace out

My experience with KYOSHO manuals has been great. They are typically very well laid out. I have now built two KYOSHO kits and rehabilitated another and I have no complaints about the manuals. I just built a Trinity Reflex NT for Team Ten Year Old and although the manual was good it was not up to the standards set by KYOSHO. I would think you'll be OK with their manuals.;)

I just finished building my V one RR, I'm going to drop an RB X-12 3 port plant in it, its an amazing car, every thing fits fantasticly except I had problems with the rear diff leaking some diif oil, I need some damn silicone sealant....

KingWillie

I use the RTV Red or blue sealant. Just a thin film on each side of the gasket works great.

If you used the gasket then your diff shouldn't leak, unless it's not done up properly.

I had a rear diff that started leaking, but it wasn't the gasket, it was because the tiny 2.6x8 screws had pulled out. Since replacing them with Tamiya Titanium 3x10 screws, I have never had a diff leak or come apart.

The standard diff screws is the weakest part of the Vone range.

I used to own a fully hopped TG10 so I still have a heap of Tamiya 3x10 tappers....

I've re-done the diff since then, rebuilt it, the screws were fully done up and the diff doesnt leak as much but I will try replacing the screws.

I feel that while building if u tighten the screws too much in the diffs.......you tend to loose the plastic threading inside and the whole set starts leaking. I bet thats the reason on my V 1 RR rear belt has something gooey on it sometimes. ? what do u guys reckon.......

Cheers

PS V 1 RR guys should keep posting in hear as the v 1 s and v 1 r thread has become quite long to follow.......for specific matters ?

Quite right, but they don't.

Other than the Centax clutch and the rear pod, what is so RR specific about your cars that makes it different from our V-One R's? The answer? Nothing. My point? Almost anything you can ask here in this thread you can also ask in the V-One R/V-One S thread. So, why would you ask something in this thread that can be answered in the other thread and benefit the whole V-One R owner community instead of those of us who decide to read this one? I'm pretty sure there are those who read the other thread who don't come in and read this one.

To each his own.

True.....but well it has become a drag and guys who are on the fast track like most of us dont have the patience to read through the whole 24 pages to find the specific answer to the specific qs. ! infact no one would know where the answer to a particular qs lies in those 24 pages !

Yeah the 3D clutch is quite Unique apart from that these are some other stock features that are not available in the V one R

Comes equipped with an aerodynamic Dodge Stratus body from Protoform!
Upper arms are connected directly to turret-link body mounts to optimize down force effect.
High-density adjustable stabilizers feature an efficient center-ball connecting system.

Well, its just an opinion to keep this forum running :)

Cheers

Actually, if they would divide the threads a little differently it might make a bit more sense. We could have a thread for the V1R/RR and a separate thread for the V1S as there is quite a bit more difference between those two threads. I think the moderator failed us in the beginning, eh?

I passed on buying a RR and my brother owns one now. I'm quite familiar with it and its design. To me, it's another of the 6 or so variants of the V-One R as opposed to the V-One S that is another car based on a few V-One R parts.

KingWillie is right in that the V-One S and V-One R should have had their own separate forums. There's more parts that are not in common between the V-One R and the V-One RR than the V-One R and the V-One S have parts in common.

I currently have a V One R. In contrast to the RR what does the RR have that the R doesn't?

Is it just the oneway, centax clutch and floating body mount?

Other than that, is everything else the same as the R?

Also, what's the current low price for the RR and from where?

If I were to get a used R for about $150 or less and add the oneway, centax and floating mount, would it be less than buying the RR kit?

V8 Grunt

The V1RR has all those things, also has better belts, plus the V1R has a 27T pulley at the middle shaft mount, whereas the V1RR has a 25T pulley, this alters gear ratio and sets up the front of the V1RR for overdrive on front end. Im sure theres a couple more differences, thats all I can recall though....:)

I'd say that is correct with the exception of the belts. They rear body mount is not quite as simple as just bolting it on, you will need to get all the correct parts, there are several trees and an aluminum mount involved. Get a copy of someones manual and work from there.
I would buy a used V1R on ebay for $100-150 and then go ahead with the conversion. Several other pieces you may want are the graphite radio plate to stiffen it up and possibly the Trinity front shock mount from the Team car and a KYOSHO or other graphite rear shock mount.
Have fun, I think building and maintaining them is 60% of the fun.

would a the rr's centax clutch fit a rb 5 ports long shaft? or a .12 os tr long shaft?

KingWillie
01-21-2003, 10:08 PM
It will, but you may need to shorten the shaft and/or fit it with a washer between the engine and the flywheel. Why don't you post this question in the V One S/ V One R forum. You will get a much better response.

I'm gettin' a my new RR ito-edition in mid of April. Cant wait to start build it :D

I'm unsure which motor i should buy but it leans to a RB X12 Turbo..

Sparx, make sure you check out the Sirio Roar legal and Outlaw versions. My son runs the ROAR legal 0.12 and it out accelerates almost everything in his class. Check out the v One R/Vone S forum, that's where most RR owners hang. :D
