Well did it work in the bandit? ;) (j/king the old play the Violin joke :))
Any 2 channel should work, I have a plain Tower/Futaba AM one I use in mine. Servos, a stock servo will work for the throttle, I have your basic Futaba servo that came with the Radio, I stronger and faster servo will get you better response and braking. As for steering however I suggest a Metal geared with as much torque as you can afford. I have a tower hobbies MG servo it's "rated" for 130oz/in@6V. It's will turn those monster tires ok but it's still slow reponse and a bit clumpsy.
I'd also suggest some sort of aluminum arm for steering. I use the one from Ofna (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXBVS8&P=7) I like the plastic insert so far I have yeat to strip a servo, arm or the plastic insert where as before I was tearing up plastic horns left and right.

I got the 14366 kit, but I got mine from Ace Hobbies.
Radio/servos/batts and a glow plug are it assuming you have all the other basics Glow starter, fuel, etc. Oh yeah and most importantly thread lock.
Tower no longer sales the exact radio and servo I use, these are the newer models.

If you can afford it the Hitec HS-945MG would work better, stonger with faster response.
