GPM racing makes good aprts at a good (cheap) price.Fioroni makes the best parts ever for it,but they are expensive.I have a price list for GPM parts, and if you want it,just send me an e-mail(not PM.Can't send it that way.)

Hey, I am restoring an old Inferno MP-5. Looks like a tough rc car, but I can't seem to find any links for an instruction manual. I have been using the MP-7.5 manual and it is gets me most of the way there, but some things are considerably different. If anyone has an electronic version of the manual that would be awesome!

I am surprised at how plentiful the parts are. I have ordered much of the parts new from Tower Hobbies and the rest used from ebay. There seem to be a ton of web sites that have "spare" parts for the MP-5 also, but I don't know if I can trust most of them.

Does anyone know which engine I should use or does it matter?

Just to let everyone know, I have finished my MP5 and it is running really awesome. Sounds like a Kawasaki dirt bike.

I have an MP5 I picked up very cheap (esp. as it had the ally diff mount mod, universals all round, and ballraced servo saver).

I'm going to restore it as a shelf model (non-runner) as I daren't use it as some parts are now discontinued and very hard to come by.

I'm trying to locate a new unpainted bodyshell, so far with little success.

Tower Hobbies has almost all of the parts still available. The body shell for the MP6 should work:

I believe the MP5 & MP6 were almost identical in bodies.

I just checked and the part numbers are different. I am not sure what is different in the bodies though.

MP5: IF029
MP6: IF042

You probably won't be able to find the MP5 decal set though.
The generic Kyosho decals, which I used are only $2.89:

Thanks for that, I already use Tower a lot.

However, as I plan to build up an MP6 display model too, I'm going to need the correct body for my MP5 as there were some noticable differences.

MrCrash

well, the only real difference between the two is that the MP-6 body was designed to mount up to the lenghtened chassis of the MP-6, whereas the MP-5 body was molded to mount up with the shorter MP-5. The

I've found a model shop in the UK that says it can still get hold of the occasional MP5 body, so fingers crossed!

Does anyone have any body-off photos of an MP5 Evolution II? In my web wide search I've managed to track down just 1!

Hey, here's my setup on my MP5.

- OS .21 RG-P
- Ofna pipe
- Hobbico servos
- Gunmetal wheels / wing

It doesn't sound like anything extraordinairy, but it's constantly beaten a Storm Pro with an OS RZ-V01B / OS Worlds pipe, best servos with an R1 radio! It also desecrated upon a Storm RTR too and a few others :)

Post your pix of your setups!

Nice car!

My setup is almost the same as yours:
OS .21 RG-P
Ofna pipe
stock wheels

This is similar to your setup and yes, it does blow most of the cars away at the track. I have only gotten mine out twice this year. Boy, am I behind.

This in Kyosho Inferno MP-5 Special, Evolution II kit. No. 31781

Is it better than the MP-5 Evolution Limited US version Kit No.31664 ?

since it came after it I assume it must be better

Does anyone know where to get parts for this car? I want to do a conversion to use the 17mm wheels is this possible and what do i need to do it?

MrCrash

Ofna makes a 17mm adapter kit for the Monster Pirate, and it fits the MP-5. Just make sure it is for 8mm axles, and you should be good to go.

Awesome, never really seen and MP5, just the MP6 but only in photo. I race a mp777 sp2 and wondered, how are these things compared too the new racers??

i would to have a Mp5 and win a race, that would show all the others:: haha
love the old school...
