hey im looking at buying a new nitro uh... something (meaning this could be anything). im 14 so money is a huge issue so chaeper the better. imm very mechanically able so building shouldn't be a problem. but $180 sounds like a reasonable amount for a complete minus radio stuff. am i wrong?

Well, before you get into prices you need to decide what king of car you want.
Do you want on road 2 wd or 4wd? Mini or regular?

Do you want offroad? 2wd stadium truck, buggy, monster truck,
4wd- stadium truck, monster truck, rally car-

You have to pick one of these- then reply, and then we can help you out.

something i forgot to say is i have a lot of experience in electric on and off road. i'm think stadium truck though. just not the tower hobbies one. 48 pitch gears don't hold up in my electric rustler all that well and thats what the tower hobbies one has.

If you don't mind a TC, get the Duratrax Street Force GP prebuilt (no radios) at Towers for USD199.00. Buy something to push your order beyond USD200 and use the USD20 rebate to keep it within your budget. Its a good beginner nitro TC and can be fast when you are ready for the extra power. It comes with a startup video which is very useful for beginners.

They're having a fall sale and I spotted a nice bargain; the Kyosho V-One-S for USD179. Comes with a .15 Kyosho GS15R engine. The V-One-S has plenty of hopups but it is single speed though.

Just get something you can get parts easily for and maybe tuning/setup help.

Have fun!

I am a little new as well but I suggest buying a kit and not a RTR. Reason being when you buy a RTR you don't get the knowledge needed to do adjustments. If you are looking at touring around that price go with

HPI Micro kits
Tamiya TL-01(this is what I started with and loved it)

If you want trucks
Team Associated has some nice kits for starters

It all depends if you want rally, touring, trucks, drag, and so on. Do you want Nitro or Electric. Everyone has there own opinions on brands and everything. Also to keep in mind is are you going to compete or just have it as a hobby. There is so much to consider when getting into RC it is unbelievable. I just bought my second kit yesterday and it took alot of consideration. Go pick up a couple magazines visit as many RC sites as possible look at reviews and go from there.

i probably should have added that im new to nitro. i've got 3 electrics (including a tamiya tl01) and o've also got about 50 lbs. of rc magazines. and building is a semi large problem fo me baceuse my workshop is under a flight of stairs with bad lighting. i've gotten very good at figuring out how stuff works without putting it together first too how about the kyosho pure ten alpha GP's

RC10GT, great trucks.

I wouldnt recomend a losi. There "exoctic" people say. Hard to work on.

Tower Hobbies has a complete package, with controller, engine etc! You just have to build it. Also you can pay monthly on it.

Just my 2 cents....
