What ESC would i need for a MMG-1 4.8:1.0 Geared 280 Johnson motor? Could i use the GWS GS-100?

Friend,

Parts of the equation will be how much you'll load it down (propeller size) and how many cells you intend to use.

I just bought a 4:1 geared "Power Speed 280" motor from Simprop with a 10x4.7 prop. On 7 cells of fresh battery it will draws approx. 2.5 amps. This is measured with batery directly connected to motor and propeller working under full load. In the air this will most probably be slightly lower.

Hope this at least partly will answer your question.

Well, the gearing is 4.8:1 . and the prop is a 7.25 x 4 in prop. And the 280 motor is not one of the "hot" motors we ussually use. its a hobby motor. pic follows....

if you have a voltmeter hook one lead to the positive motor and the other to the positive battery pack that you plan to use and connect the negative leads together and the ohm meter should tell you the amp draw.then get an ESC to match hope that helps
