I thought I'd give you guys a sneak peek at my new baby, the Hobbico Classic Biplane. 20.5" span, it will be powered by a rewound CD-ROM motor and 2 Kokam 1020s. It will be a couple of weeks before I can pick up the BL ESC for the CD-ROM motor, but I've already started on the conversion. I dry assembled the plane, and RTF it weighed 3.5 oz. I then determined where the stock balance point was, thinking that would be a good start for my CG. Then I gutted the model of the FF motor, cells, switch harness, and LG. This left me with a bare airframe that only weighs 1.75 oz. :D

I've had this jewel on backorder since March. The hobby shop owner and I just figured it was never going to be released, then it just showed up out of nowhere a few days ago. I went home Friday very, very happy!

FYI, here's a photo of a similar motor I'm using on my converted Sky Rider, although I've switched to an APC prop, which was like night and day in the performance department.

Hi Tony!

Looks like it ought to be a nice airplane!

Just the other day I was telling my brother how a guy I knew several years ago converted a foam Staggerwing to Cox .020 power. This was before there was much in the way of micro R/C. He had to strip everything down to make it work but when he finished it flew great.

I mentioned that I wished I could find a Staggerwing now and then I see your post! The one this guy converted was made by Tamiya I believe. They were rubber powered with a gearbox but they looked very scale.

Anyway, let us know how it goes!
