I am going to use some spray cans to paint a body. The cans are only 3oz which is so small.

Can you paint one whole 1/10 scale body with one of those 3oz spray cans?

Thanks for any info.

You should not have any problem finishing a couple of 1-color tops with a single can. Make sure to put on a few thin coats and let them dry between.

The only exception to that is if you're using a candy, fluorescent, or pearl color that requires a backing color. They don't have the opacity on their own to coat a body.

I painted my first ever body with a 3oz Pactra spray can and I had plenty to do the whole body plus both wings. Mind you there that there is not enough left to start a new body or wing, but there is enough for one full sized body with a few light coats or a 2 heavy coats.

There in lies the problem...too much in the can to throw out, not enough to do a whole body. So then you buy another and forget about the almost empty one. The two cans multiply inside the cabinet and suddenly you have 5 Sprint Whites, 6 indy silvers, etc. Is there no solution to this problem?

Since Pactra refuses to make bigger cans, there is no answer. Its been plaguing r/c painters since the beginning of time. So you just have to start with one partially empty can and when it runs out, you say "damn" and toss it in the trash and then toss another can in the hot water and repeat until the body is done and the empty cans are gone.

My guess is that is how the first two color fade was created...

"Crap! I need this body now, awe heck, i'll just spray what i have of the blue, and fill the rest in with what little i have of silver."

Hey, I know that this is sorta off the subject of "how many cans it takes", but you should definately do a 2 color job anyway. You dont even need to mask the body at all, just make a fade somewhere. That way you will defiantely have enough paint too.

How do you solve it? Get an airbrush. :D You can easily a couple of single color thick paint jobs with only one bottle. :)

I just painted my Silverado body for my E-Maxx. If I used one color one can would be good for one body.
