2006 Scale National Championships
Hosted by the National Association of Scale Aeromodelers
The Official AMA Scale Special Interest Group

Hi everyone, this is the first time I have attended the AMA Scale National Championships and I have to tell you, I am very impressed with the AMA flying site. over 1000 acres of modeling holyland!

The Scale Nationals are intended for all AMA members. You do not
have to qualify at other events or Scale contests to become eligible to compete in the Nationals. The classes are set up to accommidate skill levels from the rank beginner and expert. The mood is friendly and there are many who are more than willing to help the new competitor. If you can fly and you are an AMA member, there is a place for you at the Scale Nats!

The Scale Nationals starts with the Scale Indoor RC Classic held in Ball State’s Worthen Arena on the campus of Ball State University. The arena has a high ceiling and is a perfect venue for the lightweight electric flyers.

Sr-71

Outside of Dennis having a little brake problem that day, the SR-71 flew very well. I was impressed with the little 12lb Funsonic Turbines he has installed. I would not have guessed the 12lb engines would have pushed that 32-35 lb bird as well as it did. I would guess the speed was around 150-170mph.
