Thanks for posting the pics. Not as fast as it looks, best speed so far is 39.9 MPH on GPS. I've got five more props to test this weekend.

Props This guy has a bunch for sale. You might be interested.

I've ordered two and for that price, they'll be worth a little shaping up and experimenting.

Shanon

Whats the setup? Same as BH's with the 260?

If so, you should be seeing better than 40 with it I'd think.

Have you played with props? Drop down a little to a 275 and see how it does. Should let it wind out.

Doubledog

I think that BH is using the same hardware as my Manta Ray. This is not the first prop on the boat, I have tested many smaller props and can get the RPMs up, but no gain in speed. Who told you that the Manta Ray should run faster? Tony at WHH says that it should run about 43 MPH, but after a couple of hours on the phone with him, he has run out of suggestions. Before I started to dial it in myself, it only ran 34 MPH. I am waiting to see how BH does with his boat. I know another guy in Iowa that is about to get his Manta Ray wet, three boats should give us a good average speed to expect. I have four new props to test this weekend including the ABC MW3.

Garmin Etrex--- $75.00 Ebay all day long

Thats where I picked mine up at. Had to bid on several but finally got one.

Shannon, I guess rigs look faster than they really are. No one told me they should run faster, but I guess I'm 'hoping' it along for you.

Ya'll better keep me posted. This is what r/c'ing is all about.

Found 1.5 MPH today, that makes it a 40+ MPH boat. Actually it is 41.4 MPH on the GPS.

Actually guys, I haven't changed the prop yet. A little super glue to secure the throttle cable housing so that I could get WOT every run and some aluminum tape to close off that gap in the SPD III drive. I bought the sound level meter and was really trying to get a baseline sound level without the muffler. (89 db was the highest reading that I got without the muffler) I am going swimming this afternoon to see if I can retrieve the prop and shaft that I lost last month. That prop was a P275 SS modded by a guy in N.Y. and it was the fastest prop that I had run until the shaft and prop went to the bottom. (don't ask me how I lost it, it is a little embarassing)

Well, I broke the cardinal rule. Because we were going on vacation, I put the shaft back into the drive cartridge and put the boat in storage in the basement, but didn't tighten and locktite the screw. You guessed it, I forgot to locktite and tighten the screw before I put the # 12 Pennzoil boat into the water. No need to guess any more, the screw comes out during high speed run, let off the throttle and the flex shaft, cartridge, and prop goes to the bottom of the lake. That's the dirty laundry on the clothes line. I have been an aircraft mechanic and aerospace engineer for over 40 years and should not make a mistake like this, dammed that was a nice prop. Do you think that the guy in N.Y. will ever forgive me?
