Brushless, good for Drift?

I am getting into Drift and I just bought a HPI Sport 2. I was wondering if a Brushless setup would be good for Drift. If not what ESC and motor should I use? I was thinking a Reedy MVP and GM V6 ESC. Any gearing advice would be appreciated too.

That is not a brushless system you are talking about, the MVP is a brushed stock motor. Anyway the MVP should be good for drifting. I'm getting a Novak SS5800 brushless and that will be put into my main drift car. Come around and see it sometime, we bash at the belmont trots track's carpark, it's massive.

Yeah I realise that. I meant if the Brushless is no good for Drift then I will use an MVP stock motor and GM esc.

Also dude when do you go to Belmont? Is there a set time or do you just go when you feel in the mood? If there are certain times I will come down for sure.

a brushless motor should be fine for drifting. they have plenty of torque, which makes it easier to break the tires loose. if yyou dont want to go brushless, that motor and esc combo will be fine.

You can drift with a stock 540 motor if you wanted too...Its all about tires and gearing.

Gear down for the torque and run with some slippery tires. HECK, I drift with my nitro TC3 with the stock tires on. Again the tires and gears.....

I also drift with the NOVAK Brushless in my YOKOMO SSG and again..all about the gearing and tires. Awesom sight!!!

Race on..

NMT RB, if you aren't getting enough grip, you haven't set it up right.

I just ordered my brushless.
