XXXT and XXXS gearing for Novak SS brushless

Just got the Novak SS brushless system and put it in my XXXT. Gearing I started with is 17/86. Good acceleration, but it didn't seem to have the top end speed I expected. What is the largest pinion you have successfully run with a 86 spur? What pinion/spur combo does everyone run on a daily basis? Also, what about pinion/spur combos on a XXXS? Thanks.

Go to www.teamnovak.com and look up their gearing charts for a starting point.

For the most part gear it just as you would a stock class motor, i.e. fairly big pinion gear. I don't know Losi gearing but I would imagine you would end up going up another 2-3 teeth on your pinion (check Novak's web site to be sure)

I am running 17/86, this is what Novak recomends. I have also run 18t and the motor and esc got close to the 190 deg mark. I have aslo tried 20t and 24t just to get top speed figures Running a 24t/86t combo on 7 cells I reached 39.8 mph..But Novak suggests 17-18 with a 86t spur..
