High speed passes and GPS users READ THIS!

For all you guys using GPS, this is important. Since the GPS measures speed based on how fast you cover a certain distance, you have to make sure you have plenty of street, runway, etc. When I have only 250 feet, even though the vehicle seems like it had hit top speed, the GPS doesn't actually register an accurate number. Now that my street is repaved and I have 500 feet of super smooth clean street, my MPH is up a few more even though that vehicle isn't really going any faster!

Also, having a properly lubed car that is clean seems to add 2-3 mph top speed too.

So, for you guys hitting over 60 mph with rustlers, make sure you have at least 500 feet of road!!!!

That is very valuable advice. I have also seen the need for a very long run using GPS. I've also found that the Garmin 12-channel with WAAS technology units are more accurate with shorter distances, but still require a nice long run holding top-speed for it to calculate sample points.

I use no less than 400-550' of straight during a top speed test run using a Garmin Geko GPS.

HINT: disabling WAAS will net a more accurate speed result, but less accurate pinpointing ability.
