I don't know why nobody has considered this yet but RCCA did an article on a dual motor TA03 that did 87.6 mph. That was with dual 6 turn motors. I'm thinking that with today's crop of batteries and the hottest BL setup maybe with large amounts of cells it could very easily top 150 mph? It would be much easier to mod this car since Tamiya kits are usually lego-like in their ability to be customized. The two motors at each end on independent gearboxes lets you stretch the chassis to the maximum length and squeeze in as many cells as you can. The thing that could be limiting would be the gearboxes themselves.

Dual motors will only get you to top speed quicker without good gearing.Putting ThunderPower Li-po's won't change nothing.If you put 2 hacker c50(i think) into anE-maxx it will do 60ish.So then you put li-pos in there it will do 90 right?Wrong!good idea but u need more thought and 150 is a little far in my opinion.And thats for any of these cars.

I didn't really say anything about li-po batteries but normal sub-c's in general. I know dual motors won't make it go any faster ( a little bit more since they have more torque to let it overcome drag at high speeds). You could however fabricate pinions and maybe spurs (I don't know if the ta03 uses standard spurs) for it.

It is a lot easier in theory to go from the mid 80s to 150, let alone 100 mph, than it is in practice.

There are so many elements that come into play at high speeds, and if each one isnt tended to just right, disaster can result.

Just in aerodynamics, the effects will NOT be linear. There will be much more stress gained on an object accellerating from 80 to 100 miles per hour, rather than something accellerating from 0-20. Because the stress will be so extreme on these little cars, special attention will need to be paid to the suspension and body. This is why I think people like Sigurd have the best chance to be the fastest.

Its easy to say "oh lets build a longer chassis, strap on a ton of cells and two brushless motors" and dont get me wrong, that will get you to go fast, damn fast, but it will not win the competition.

The person who claims the "worlds fastest" title will be someone who has paid attention to ALL details. They will have a good match of weight to surface area, the car superbly balanced, the suspension stiff, and the overall setup perfected. I think after all those stages then you should start worrying about the power.

Yes. I definitely think that the people who are custom ding everything for the competition are going to have the best chance. My favorites are Sigurd's and Eddie Week's for the win, and, although it may not win, the 1/4 scale funny car with a nitromethane powered 4-stroke supercharged v-8 will certainly be awesome.

Yes and no. If you have duel motors it makes the car accelerate and its weighs more, But with duel motors you get more power so you can gear it alot wider with out losing rpm like in nitro Then again the extra batteries also holds it back, but i still think it would be better than one. But to win, I dont think it will hold up and get the fastest speed.

The most important part of the worlds fastest rc car is the gearing or
transmission... There is no question, all the cars will be high power, but
only a few will be able to put that power to the wheels over a large
range of mph... only 3 hp or 2200 watts will over come all drags
and still accelerate the car at a high rate only if you can get that
power to the wheels from 0 to 100 mph...

So what you need is a continuous variable transmission.. I have one
on my riding lawn mower.. They are very simple in design.. just
two pulleys and one belt.. The hard part is to move the pulleys in a rc car
because I don't think servos would be strong enough...

If the turbine car has a problem (like does not go fast) this is my plan B..
Along with an engine like the DA-100.. twin ~10 hp....
