Kyosho 777 Racing Truck!
We were tipped off about some recent shots of Youichi Kanai testing a new Kyosho competition-class racing truggy. This new version is rumored to be a 777-based kit designed by Kanai and though the details are hard to see through the body, it certainly looks like Kyosho has a long-arm competition truggy in development. There also appears to be a few unique accessories that we can see on the chassis, including what looks like super-diesel round aluminum chassis braces etched with the Kyosho name.
Our information says Kyosho is shooting to have something available in early spring before the start of the racing season. Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.

Well said! I love my 777, and anyone that knows Kyosho, knew that the 7.5 based truggy wasn't gonna last for long...

This truck will not use 14mm hexs. this is a prototype and although he did some testing with these rims, the production version will probably have 23mm hubs. The 7.5 based truggy will be a strong truck as well, and it will be around for a long time, it's just not made for the same customer as this truck. The other truck is going to be RTR and targeting a much lower price, where this truck is going to be a kit intended for hardcore racers and probably be in the same price range (or just a shade higher) than the 777 SP2. Totally different trucks for different customers. This one is obvious aiming at the competition market.

The chassis braces are the new lightweight aluminium braces, as read on http://www.buggy-sport.info/ :
Kyosho will bring out some new chassis braces for their Kyosho MP777. Made by lightweight aluminum, which also improves the strength. Cool design with Kyosho logo.

I like how those braces are lightweight, but I don't see them being stronger than most of the optional braces out there, such as King Headz and Fioroni.

Well it's about time! Those braces are no stronger than the stock braces on the SP2. Lighter...sure, they only look better. They'll still end up in my pit box, replaced by the King Bling!

They certainly are stronger. the aluminum rod is many times larger in diameter compared to the stock brace and the rod ends are much bigger so they flex less and last much longer. Even if they did none of they above, I agree that they would find their way on to my car because they look cool, but as luck would have it, they actually do something too.

Re-read that Steve.....he wasn't talking about the stock pieces ..... rather the 3rd party pieces...
the 3rd party pieces eliminate some of the designed in torsional flex of the chassis though and would effect how the chassis sets up and handles...

I'm not a fan of the standard braces, they're junk! They pop off and IMO provide too much flex for our agressive US tracks. Maybe in Asia and Europe they're fine. And my buggy handles just fine with the aftermarket braces, it's the first upgrade many racers make on their SP2 kit.
Now the new braces might be worth a look if they're included in the new race truggy kit or dare I say with the "SP3"

That is not the same truck. This is a racing kit based on the 777, the picture you're showing is the RTR truck based on the MP7.5.

I don't agree with this at all, and I've raced every Inferno since the Turbo Burns. I used to be convinced like Scrapsz that CNC braces were the way to go, but I actually got faster when I started using the turnbuckle style braces because it makes the buggy more forgiving.
I've never popped one off, even on extreme tracks. Honestly I think CNC braces would be better on Euro tracks where they're flatter (which would reward a stiffer chassis) and our US aggressive tracks would call for some extra flex to calm the car down.
Believe what you will, but I'll choose to trust Kyosho's buggy designer, Yuuichi Kanai. He's won the IFMAR Worlds and designed the previous 6 winning buggies; call me crazy but I think he MAY just know what he's doing including those "junk" braces over CNC ones!

i agree. i've used racers edge torque rods and am currrently using fioroni torque rods. sure it makes the kit stiff, protects the center universals from bending, and protects the front and rear bulkheads from tearing out but it makes the kit overly sensitive on super bumpy american style tracks. (big jumps that break stuff)
the stock rods are actually pretty smart design wise in terms of the kit overall flex (when installed properly and replaced if the plastic stretches.). a stock sp2 out of the box gives an amazing ride. after all the hop ups we put on these kits, the feel is stiff and overly reactive. no wonder we complain, we mess with the original design by kanai.
i purchase the after market torque rods for added stiffness and kit protection from flex, not improvement on getting over the bumps. adding stiffness worsens the result.
for the cost of the SP2 kit, and what the expected cost of the 777 kanai truggy kit will be i'd prefer not to have to spend more than $700 to upgrade the kit that should include all the hops that a mugen would. these braces and the current sp2 shock tower upgrade were a great improvement in preventing the NEED for after market hops. next on kyosho's plate should be CNC knuckles, CNC upper roll blocks and lower blocks. steve?
but in the end, i'm purchasing another SP2 this week and selling the 3 month old SP1 on ebay (minus said hops). this will be the 5th 1/8th scale kyosho on my plate. keep going back for a reason. the kit helped me to 2nd in the a-mains last saturday, can't say it didn't help me get there.
