Cool Stuff, When he let him test drive he should have showed him how to hold the TX But it is great to see the hobby get some much needed publicity.

That truly is the greatest job in the world IMO, I work at a publishing company but its not nearly as exciting

why did he say that 1/8 scale rtr nitros are gona start at a grand??? that is rediculus. a low end RTR is about 3-4 hundred, and a nice one like a jammin is only like 500 (600 with all the start up junk). I can get a decent hyper 8 pro or mp 777 set up going for about a grand. Why would someone go on TV to promote the hobby and make it seem more discouraging than it really is?

John, I was referring to both ends of the spectrum. The off camera interviewer asked me a two-part question. First, about how much it would cost to get into the hobby and then about how much it cost for the bigger nitro cars that I raced. Hindsight being 20/20, I should of said the high end racing monster trucks and buggies go for a grand and more, but I only got one take. I didn’t realize at the time that I mentioned RTRs the sentence before I talked about the cost of the racing trucks. In my mind I was referring to the cost of purchasing a kit, radio gear, engine and stuff for the typical racer. My bad.

Jason, don't apologize...hahahah

Just kidding...I'm sure you were probably pretty nervous, as being on TV is not an everyday occurence for you. I know it is not something I would just breeze through on my first time, especially with just one take.

I think like most folks have said, focus on the positive. Getting the sport/hobby out there on TV is about as good as it gets. I for know that I enjoy seeing it every chance I get. That even includes watching Inside RC. Sure there are things I would change about the show, but I still watch it religiously if for no other reason than to do my best to make sure it doesn't go off the air.

Anybody notice they called them remote controlled cars instead of radio controlled?

I liked it. I'm glad you explained the difference between toy and hobby cars, most people don't even know what goes in these cars.

It was nice to see the Lazer ZX5 and the Infernos run.

I agree, Its always a great thing to see publicity for RC cars. The more people joining our hobby the better it gets for all of us.

yea I didnt mean to harshly critsize. I was just concerned that the number would scare some people off. I can see how it would be a pain to structure a whole interview perfectly with just one take.

That's pretty cool, but you probably should have gotten a track regular to drive the buggy or shown some racing, because it looks a lot more exciting with a better driver behind the wheel, no offense to whoever was driving though.

Jason has made the A-Main racing against the pros at major races--trust me, he can wheel.

What you're seeing is the point of view of the VIDEO EDITOR. He looks at every clean lap as a BORING lap, and sees any crash or bobble as something exciting to put in the clip. And so, the best driver out of all the RCCA editors ends up looking like he has noob driving skills!

When I got my XB8 with motor, two servos, reciever, Personal transponder, Fuel, glow plugs, start box with gel cell, a set of tires, a gallon of fuel, a couple spare suspension parts, (front and rear arms, caster blocks and hubs) I flopped down $1500. My point is if you are doing this to race with top end equipment you can throw down $1k+ pretty easy for a new kit. I blew $700 on my first gas truck. Yeah you can get RTR cars for a lot less out the door but I would say to build Jason's Kyosho from scratch as it sat on that table you would dump $1000-1500 new. He did mention early that you can get RTR electric cars for 200-300. That is about right. I would budget a little more for a little better charger and an extra battery or two but that is the lower end.

The G4 web site is pretty hard to follow (guess to have to be a gen X'er or something, looks like crap to me). Can someone let us know if the show will air again? Perhaps they have a repeat schedule? Thanks

Paul, I don't know if the show will air again. It was on last Tueday at 7:00 pm EST and then again on Wednesday at 3:00am EST. If I find out about the show airing again, I'll post the time here in this thread. Thanks to everyone with the kind words.

Casper, you racing at the Silver State?

What I think it pretty damn cool is one of my R/C Dirt magazines has both of those buggies in it and then to see a video of them and then to have you come on here and "chat" with us common folk.
That's just damn cool!!!
Thanks!!!
